Flywheel question

I'm helping my son build a 65 corvette. He has a 454 I'm wondering if we should go with a heavy or light flywheel? He has a t 10 4 speed trans. He will likely do a lot of street driving. Not to much drag racing. The motor is a gen VI oval port hope to be around 400 hp. Thanks.

The lighter the flywheel the better.

I too prefer and recommend alum flywheels

When I changed the clutch out on my GTO to a monster stage 3 I went with the stock weight flywheel. I don't think there are any major pros/cons either way. Lighter wheel and the engine spins that much faster. I don't think at mere mortal power levels the flywheel weight is a MASSIVE place to gain. Every little bit helps I guess.

The guys at Monster actually convinced me to go with the stock flywheel for what that is worth.

Thanks for the input. I think we will go with a light flywheel, then when we modify engine we will already have the right flywheel.

Get a drilled out/lightened steel flywheel.
