For all old school drag racing fans!!!

Wow,The memories,
I grew up at English town and Island Dragway and watched alot of the big names run.

Cool link. great find. It amazing how those guys kept those cars on the track.

Great link, David!

I got into engines/cars/racing during the Snake vs. Mongoose era. I remember spending days building my plastic model Mongoose to look *exactly* like the car I saw on Wide World Of Sports. :)

In an odd twist of fate, I found out that the guy who owns Tom McEwen's Mongoose Corvette lives here in Columbus! I saw the restored car at the auto show here last year and lost my mind. Brought back some great memories of my childhood and growing up.

One cool thing I found in those pics is a real treat and pretty rare.
Check out the fuel delivery system/scoop in these two photos:

Win new friends if you can name it. (FSTJACK is not allowed to answer...heh heh).
Bonus points if you can name the place where young guns like me first saw it.
:D :D :D

Thanks for the link.
Good cure for the winter bla's.:)

But sure make's me feel old!:(

I know what you mean. My uncle used to race a '61 Dodge with a 413 and the long crossrams on it. We would ride to the strip in it, he would jack it up,bolt on the slicks and uncap the headers, race it, then we would ride home with open headers and slicks. As a 6 year old that left a great memory and a bad habit etched into my brain!:D :D There used to be three of those Anglias that would race there. Front tires in the air every time.

Randy 1968 Corvait Funny Car

The first pic of Randy Walls 1968 Corvair Funny car.

This car was destroyed in a crash in 1968 when Joe pisano crossed over the centerline and crashed into Randy.
This car weighed about 2200 lbs with out the driver and had a steel body.

The next pictures are of Randy in the last run he made in his latest Nostalgia T/F Funny Car at the 2007 CA Hot Rod Reunion.
The car burned to the ground. Randy got out with minor burns.

The last picture is of the car on the run where we had the fire......

We are working to try and build another program to keep things going.
