A while back, my truck was making this horrible moaning sound when the oil was below 160 F. Then it was doing it when the oil temp was below 170 F, then 180 F. Whatever it was, it got worst.

My oil pressure was normal and beside that noise, everything was peachy in the engine compartment.

Well yesterday I changed my oil and got rid of the X-Metal oil filter. The noise is gone....Completely gone!!!!!!!

Now, I don't know if it was the oil filter causing the noise or something not being lubricated properly...like the blower..

I used a K&N oil filter and Amsoil 5w40 European Formula(Recommended for Turbocharged Vehicles). I also added Lucas Synthetic Oil Stablizer. The noise is completely gone.

I am so freaking happy!!!!!!

Anyway...Scott the noise is gone!!!!!!!!:burnout:

I was wondering if my noise was being caused by the filter. I guess I need to take it off and see what happens. Thanks for the info.

def! jrgnd what filter was it?
I can't loose a turbo!

It is the Canton filter with a cartridge. Change your oil every 3K miles and the cartridge every 10K. I got mine also from Boomer. It had a history of noise issues but it was linked to a piece of rubber inside of it for top mounted filters. I took that out prior to install. I just don't remember when the noise started. But my problem is identical to Jrgnd's.
