We were trying to get a Dyno Dynamics dyno to read more like a Dynojet at the time of these pulls because of the complaints of "Your Dyno Is Low"...(
not an easy task, and the project was later abandoned).
During the pulls, the Dyno Dynamics dyno was within 28 horsepower of the Dynojet's numbers (the 577 pull listed in my sig). Regardless, ALL of the pulls were done under the same ramp rate (load) so I could see if the ported throttle body worked; and that was my main concern. NOTE: ALL the numbers are higher than they should be for a D.D. dyno, but the power improvement (
and the power drops) during the pulls, are all valid.
The BLUE (Vipered .002) line is WITHOUT the ported throttle body. The MAGENTA line represents a pull with Jack's ported throttle body. The other pulls are overlaid to compare. The RED line that crosses the blue around 92 m.p.h. was the last (hot pull) and shows a drop in power but still stays close to the MAGENTA trace.
Each square represents 12 horsepower so you can take it from there...a nice overall improvement from Jack's creation!
I also picked up one m.p.h. and dropped another tenth at the track after the install (for the last few trips to the track), so that also points to a 10+ horsepower gain...This might also help those on the fence about ported throttle bodies. And no, I don't know what that spike from 102-111 m.p.h. is about...
For those wondering why Dynojet's tend to read so high compared to D.D. and Mustangs...
