5 or 6 times now my fuel gauge has gone to 0, DTE has went to 0 and then it will slowly start coming back up. Today I had more than 3/4 of a tank and it went to E and the light came on, the dte was at 0. 30 min later it started coming back up till it went back to 3/4. WTF?

I only does it one every other day, will they be able to fix it or will they pull the "it's not doing it right now so i can't really do any thing about it..."

I hate that when dealers pull that crap... so what I have done the past when they try and pull that card... I force them to open a ticket, and remark the vehicle history with mileage, date, time, etc.. that I was there, and reported the issue, and that they will honor the repair even if I come back outside the warranty time...

They 95% of the time replace/fix it on the spot.. or update the file on the vehicle... grumbling about it the whole time.

9 times out of 10 it's the fuel pump sending unit float. The float gets saturated with fuel and drops sending a false reading. Your situation tells me the float is almost saturated and comes up for air once in a while. It could also be the contacts on the sending units arm that the float is attached too. Either way it can be fixed without replacing the fuel pump. Not sure on this truck if you have to drop the tank to access the fuel pump.

Hope this helps:dontknow:

I know you have to drop the whole tank to get it out, we have had a few work truck do it. Well I guess I know what I am doing tonight...

This happened to me once last year, but it wasn't something that occured as much as it has with you Red. I would certainly get it fixed.

Did you get it fixed?
They wouldn't replace the sending unit so I payed for one outright and did it my self, it has only been 2 days so I don't know if it's fixed or if it hasn't hit it's sweet spot yet. When I got it out it looked ok exept for there was a small amount of gas in the float and on the contacts there was one small crossion spot. When I put the ohm meter on it and moved the float up and down it had a couple of small dead spots. If it fixes it I will be happy, if not I will leave it with them on monday when they put my radio back in.
