ok here is the prob and will leave it here for ya;ll to discuss and check back later,

but fireboy has a suncoast, been working fine, but today he took off from a light and the truck acted as it had the brakes on.

it wants to take off in second gear, first acts like it has the brakes on

when it does take off in second it does fine till about 10mph then its like someone puts on the brakes.

reverse seems to work ok

but basically if he is at a stop, taakes off, it takes off in second, about 10 mph the truck will act as tho its working against itself , such as brakes being applied, when he comes to a stop, the engine will want to die.

funny thing is if he is at a stop shifts into drive, it idles fine, but if he drops it into 1st it will almost die

to me it sounds like the convertor is locking up prematurely.

but the fluid is full and still brand new looking

any suggestions?

sounds like a stuck valve or something along those lines.Does he have a line lock?

no sir, I am thinking somehow either a solenoid is sticking , valve like you say, and causing maybe the convertor to lock in early?

Tell him the gas pedal is the long vertical pedal on the right and the brake is longer horizonally pedal on the left...:dontknow:

sounds like the reverse solenoid/valve is getting hung up acting like a transbrake. just hit it with a big hammer, that ought to fix it.

LOL.... Ya that or his exhaust manifold bearings are going out....:p ... sorry to hoe the thread

Stinker, it sounds like the converter is locked up. Specially if it wants to stall when coming to a stop.

Hey guys thanks for the jokes!!! But for real has anyone ever heard of this happening? It will take off in drive but feels like it is taking off in second then at approx 10 mph all of a sudden feels like I put on the brakes! If I put it in 1st it does not want to go anywhere when I give it gas and stalls the motor!

Bands adjusted too tight?
clogged filter?..

Just spitballing here..

I had a similar problem in my ramcharger after running it hard at the track my problem was that I siezed the forward clutch, my symtons were: park = park, reverse = park, and 1 and 3 there was nothing all I had was 2nd gear.

To me it sounds like a clutch/band is siezed or sticking on.

Can't be the bands to tight RIFF. I've put about 1500 miles on it since installed and was working good. Thanks for the imput though.

Sounds like a major crossleak is causing multiple clutches/bands to apply. I bet a damaged planetary gear set/holder would cause some of these symptoms as well.

forward clutch seized as ramcharger says this was what caused my first trans failure did the same thing as yours I had to drive it in 2 gear to the dealership over 65% was toast got new trans under warranty
