Blowers are a more usable, there when you need it hosepower & if you need more put on another pulley on. But when you spray the intake with NOS on a blower motor hold on. Droping intake temp's are the secret for making real hosepower so theres a place for both.

Very well put Jack!!. Every motor I build, or vehicle that I work on, I let the motor and drive train talk to me.... I am allways looking for little things that might be signs to larger problems, because its usually whole lot cheaper to fix the little things before they turn into something larger.

You are exactly right our hot rods will talk to us... they will usually let us know before a larger problem occurs....with no offence to anyone.. this is the main reason that I choose to do alot of my own work.. I want to know exactly how it works, and if I put it together I have a much better chance of having that edge.

Scott.

Forced induction is the way to go. Let me qualify that a little.

Spray is great and you can make big HP & torque with it. For 1/4 or 1/8 mile racing it is a very good way to go.

Forced induction gives a seat of the pants boost that is always there. If it is engineered properly and tuned properly, boosted motors are really fun to drive.

Many here are trying to test the limits of stock engine and driveline parts. This can be done with NOS or boost. The results are usually the same. catastrophic failure.

There are a few that have done their homework and built a "combination".
That is not just bolting on parts that will work. That is coming up with a package of parts that compliment one another.

Tuning is also very inportant.

I see a disturbing trend to use a "Stage 2" flash and run NOS on top of the flash. This in my opinion can lead to massive engine failure.

I also see a trend among people that have "Modded" the engine to not accept responsibility when there is an engine failure. If I want to modd/build my engine I have to accept the fact that my engine warranty is void.
Any aftermarket parts I install are also done at my discression knowing that it will void my warranty.

I knew a fellow that had an oil leak, he had a large capacity oil pan and a preoiler. He chose to drive with the leak. His motor was ruined.
All his buddies wanted to blame the maker of the part that started leaking.
His comment to this was "I should have paid attention".
Whenever there is a good sized oil leak it is my responsibility to pay attention to the smell, the smoke or the other signs that something is wrong. And these signs are always present.

We have HotRods, and as such we have to pay a fair bit of attention to them. They will usually give out warning signs that something is wrong.
Your eyes and ears are the best diagnostic tools you have.
This needs to be followed up with common sense

The bottom line is, if I want to play I got to pay.

I like banks... I have his Stinger (not stinker!!! :D) system on my motorhome diesel, which is just the 5.9ISB Cummins.

I gained about 60hp, and 120lbs of torque, as well as improved my overall mileage.

The rig weighs fully loaded around 30k lbs, and towing my trailer of 10k lbs... she rolls right along at 70mph really easy... getting about 11-12mpg.

No way that Gale Banks can be compared to Hennessey. The only bad rap on Gale is cost. His products cost a bunch compared to what you can pull together yourself.

Now the advantage that Banks products has is that for someone who is not all that savy can order it and get the whole package that will work together and produce the HP/Torque claims.

Would I order from Banks? No, I have the knowledge that I can pick the components that I know will work together, but some do not.

Anyway, just didn't want to see Gale get slammed to hard.

we've been running edge products on our diesels and they work great too. alot cheaper than banks.

I run Edge products for their price, ease of installation and great function.

I have installed more than one of each.

The Edge products have always been correct the first time.

I like both Edge and Bully, however neither make a good kit that is approved for use by my motorhome maker (Fleetwood), so that I why I choose to use Banks, his kit was the only one that both Fleetwood and Cummins would stand behind.

The kit included: Turbo Upgrade, Otto Mind Computer, temp and boost Gauges, all harnesses (designed for Motorhomes), tranny controller, and a very nicely written manual, covered every step exactly like it should be.

There are several reasons that Cummins would "stand behind" Bank's kit.... The one of those that I will mention (and the most "useful" to this conversation, really ;) ) is that his kits are very conservative. You won't make as much HP/TQ as others when you use a Banks "PowerPak". :) They are conservative, and sometimes... especially with Diesels... and MOST especially with a "new" truck..... Conservative is a good thing. :)

The Edge products are great for Dodges.... So I hear. (Although, they are not so great for Fords and Chevys). :dontknow: But, then again... You put any Major power-adding software on a (stock) Ford or Chevy Diesel, and your asking trouble..... Ask me how I know.... :D ;)

Yes, that is true... and I knew that going into it... I choose that route because I wanted to besure that my tranny would also be safe as well...

Had I gotten the Allison 6 Speed, over the Allison 5 speed, I could have used a Bully or Edge Product.. but was advised also by Allison that the Stinger kit was the max that I could go.. and lets face it... a motorhome is not a "tire smoker!!! ", I was really looking to gain back what I lost when I am towing.

You hit the nail right one the head with that one.... The tranny is the weakest link. :) ;)

So true, I went thru 3 trannies on my 2000 Ram 3500TD, I finally went with a stage 5 ATS Diesel tranny, awesome set up. But don't think your looking for all that with your motorhome.

Yeah.. you ought to see the size of the tranny on the moho... its friggin huge.. not sure which Allison 5 speed it is.. but it has two external filters the size of our oil filters on our SRTs...
