Gas for the Track

I leave between an 1/8 to a 1/4 tank depending on how many runs I expect to get in. More weight equal more time to get to the 1/4.

Thanks Brad....we always did a quarter of a tank on our stock hotrods and a teeny little tank in our modifieds but I never raced a truck. Knew the weight was uncool for time but didn't know if a little more in our trucks would make em hook up better and be quicker or if you'd just pay for the weight. Ain't much of a design for drag racing...you'd have to totally redo the frame for weight transfer, but it'll be fun anyway if I can figure out how not to just sit there in a cloud of smoke :D :D :D :D I'm sure this is boringly repititious for you guys that do it all the time.

Best wishes....and thanks for your time

Shave the rear calipers to allow room for 16" full slicks. Install Caltracks and QA1 shocks. The Caltracks only work good with weight transfer therefore the QA1 shocks. Put on Skinnies up front. Take out the sway bar, bed cover, and tailgate. Heat the tires for a good 5 second burnout with around 18 - 22 psi depending on outside temps. This config should get you the best possible 60ft time.

Here's a video of the same setup except for the rear tires are 17" M&H DR's that fit over our stock rear calipers:

I drive the truck to the track and the QC's get great gas mileage (not) so I leave it at 1/2, buy the time I get to the track its right above 1/4, make a few runs and I make it home before the fuel light comes on

Hadn't seen the Trainman's vid...what a great hookup!!!! yeah, knew the tires would be a BIG issue. Thanks Brad, appreciate your tips greatly:rock:

Thanks Farenheit, might just cart some race gas, change the tune...my track is a bit further than yours sounds like - about 75 miles so I'll have to figure out how to do what you did and have it sitting on a quarter when I get there.
