gear vendor time!

All the talk about mileage is great.

TNViper made a great point...........Wind Drag, also the Gear Vendors uses a few HP itself as it operates on planateries. Maybe 2%-3%.
Plus the Gear Vendors weighs 50 lbs. Considering what the truck already hauls around that is moot.

GearVendors is a great unit, and many have had good success with it.

Hey Clit, It sounds like a good idea to me! It will drop your RPM's a bunch and believe me that big ol torquey sumbitch will not be bothered by the lower RPM's. You know you might be able to use a one piece driveshaft with that, that would be a plus.

is this a call out?:D :dontknow:

Turbos take alot longer to spool than any supercharger,,and I think I had the quickest time along with Justin, and only 700hp, so whether its an 1/8 mile or not , doesnt really matter, If mine can spool up and do it in an 1/8th, a paxton can;)

and really i have the most miles of any srt-10 owner hands down ,i've spent enough on gas to buy another truck!

Then common sense says buy another truck, instead of the money in XOM's pocket you would have some value in a vehicle...

If you went donw to a 3.90 you could also put a Roe on it:D

jsut some rough numbers, a gear vendor will "decrease" your fuel mileage due to the amount of energy it would take to turn the unit.

the best bet is to drop to a 3.90 gearor 3.73 depending on whether you pull any wieght or not
the unit actually bolts on to the back end of the 48re,kinda like a 4x4 unit,u have to remove the back end of the tranny and bolt it on.

i do have to tow with this truck,so 3.90 isnt gonna be great either

as for buying another truck,no,i love driving my truck all of the time, just looking at ways to keep my overhead down and have fun

I have a gear venders on my town car and it proved to be the best mod
of all. MPG went up so much I thought fuel gage broke. Performance, being
able to go up or down half a gear is awsome, along with having 3 overdrive
ratios.
However when I had my shop call to order one for my truck, the tech advised that there were problems with the electronics causing problems
with the SRT-10 ECM that were yet to be resolved.:(

thats something i need to check into, wonder if a sct tune would take care of that

is it really fair? i mean u only own a 1/8 mile truck:p ,we know my truck aint gonna heat soak!:D .

last time i went down the quarter mile it made it just fine. :D bring em both ill run both of them.if you cant beat it in the 1/8th youll just be farther behind in the 1/4, oh this is after you outrun a stock truck he he he .

105 on street tires, blew off 1st, 2nd, and half of third before it hooked up. that was with sean's first tune. he's tweaked it a little since then.i tell ya what you beat me then ill mix your measuring cup for ya the rest of the weekend:D

Gear Vendors are BS. This is from experience and 2-1/2 years of nothing but headaches and doing GVs R&D. My Challenger had one of the first auto-shift sequencer units installed. It's working now, but not as it should. "Gear splitting" LMAO - Gimmick, it's faster using the stock shifter, the GV uses a solenoid and needs time to shift, shift earlier? Yes, but it's still slow and very inconsistent. OD is good, I run 3.91s in the R/T and in OD cruise like 3.05s but it kicks out of OD every now and then but we have this sorted now. 3 modules later, big $$$ spent and time on the phone to Rick (head honcho) got me where I am today.

Kenny Wayne Shepard & Joe Rogan are also having trouble with their units and still have to be addressed. The stock unit (NOT the Auto-shift) are fine but still a load of BS. You have to manually shift in and out of OD which creates a "pause" or delay in shifting, do searches on videos, it's very noticeable in audio and visual form. The auto-shift sequencer module unit was created for this reason, ease and quickness of driving using this unit. Practice does help but even Rick said getting each gear perfect is impossible. If you mess up and shift out at high rpm.......bad news for you and worse for your engine (which is in the rear view by this point). A lot of money for 1 OD gear. I'm not kicking this product in the nuts, if anything, I should be BS and saying it's the best ever as I own one, but I can't, it's easily the worst mod I've ever had in 10 years of driving in my young life and 12 cars, period.

My 0.02c - I don't want anyone going through what I had too. Have a few big threads @ cuda-challenger on it.

Are we talking about the same Gear-Venders?:dontknow:
I have had mine for about 2yrs and it has been great with no
issues at all, and it shifts fast.
The only thing is that I learned the hard way not to out shift at the wrong time,(my fault).:D

Damn Chub w/ 95k in ya truck why do ya need to worry bout gas $$$
