For sale very few miles . shifts great ! I just can't take the harmonics. Reinstalling the stock Hurst . Will miss the crisp shifts ! First 500 takes it.
Hey Stink, going to install mine this weekend...could you give more in depth details on how to do this. A little confused on what you mean, remembering I'm a mechanical idiot. Thanks.Stinker said:Hope the sale goes well bro, but have you tried cutting a apiece of inner tube and puttin it between the handle and base then wrapping it with rubber bands? it does help immensly, just a thought.
Cool! Thanks...Now about the vibrator insulation..Are these ribbed/lubricated,ribbed no lube, or just your basic 25 cent Redneck balloon they sell in Honky Tonks. I'm all about the info man.Stinker said:In between where the handle bolts to the base take a and cut like a bicycle inner tube to fit between there, maybe even double it up to about 1/8 inch.
run allen head bolts thru handle thru rubber into where it mounts on the base.
Then go to staples or somewhere and find small rubber bands and put them around this area also , heck as many as you can , and make them very tight.
the wide ones also, not the skinny ones.
what you are doing is giving a rubber insulator for the harmonics, the rubber will absorb them. and the rubber bands will lesson the vibrations also.
Look at it this way, take your ladies vibrator and stick in on a glass table and turn it on, noise as hell right?
now put a rubber over vibrator, and then lay it on the table, noise now mostly gone, plus you now have a safe toy for her![]()
it may not get rid of it completly , but may make it alot more livable
Lol!! Or fruits n vegies??or just your basic 25 cent Redneck balloon they sell in Honky Tonks. I'm all about the info man.![]()
first off, mr smarty pants, the gasket wont help with hamonics coming thru the shift lever. the ball at the end of the actuation rod in the shifter assembley is ALWAYS in contact with the transmission with our shifter, IE the tranny harmonics come up thru the lever just like a stethoscope. our shifter is a tight precison piece, so there isnt extra clearances, or a plastic pivot point internally to asorb vibrations.Rick_R said:The B&M comes with a rather substantial nylon (or maybe HDPE) gasket. Guess they did a bit more research and development, or they have built just a few more shifters than the average bear. This gasket should fit your shifters, maybe the guy from B&M that frequents the board would swallow a bit of "private pleasure" and offer some of you guys a chance to buy just that part number. Still, with what you have already spent, it seems like a bit much to ask you to spend even more.
Just my .02, considering I took a loss to sell mine, I probably have a lot of .02 left to offer.

a LOT of the tranny noises can also be calmed down by switching to a synthetic trans lube like Redline or Royal Purple.
if you want precison, and the ability to do full throttle shifts, then our shifter is the answer. World Challenge car drivers and thier mechanics -BUY, and use our products, and they get FREE shifters from our competitors, but choose to spend the money on our shifter. but thats just .02 for ya.
then again, if you like quiet, dont install a catback, headers or catless mid pipes. you could just drive a Buick.
:congrats: Very nice post. Started off with a little humor, explained why Rick R's suggestion wouldn't work, made a suggestion about what else can be done to help quiet the noise, plugged his product and finished with some more humor. That was much better than "You can't make chicken soup out of chicken shit". You've come a long way.BOOMER said:first off, mr smarty pants, the gasket wont help with hamonics coming thru the shift lever. the ball at the end of the actuation rod in the shifter assembley is ALWAYS in contact with the transmission with our shifter, IE the tranny harmonics come up thru the lever just like a stethoscope. our shifter is a tight precison piece, so there isnt extra clearances, or a plastic pivot point internally to asorb vibrations.
