Going to get the headers Jet Hot coated. The place is in PA, not far, so I am going to drive them there myself and drop them off. Thinking of going with the Extreme Sterling coating due to the higher drop in skin temps also considering the Sterling Silver (haven't made up my mind yet price will probably decide). Any thoughts on this? Feel free to put your 2 cents in.
I also bought a blanket for the starter, some stainless zip ties, and ordered some shielding blankets and tape from Summit Racing, this should remedy the heat issues. Hopefully I will try to remove the headers on Monday or Tuesday, going to warm up a little here (NJ), currently 20ºF, way to cold to be futzing around under the hood. Thank you for your comments and advice. You guys rock!!!
From Jet Hot's site:
STERLING SILVER is our brightest looking finish. It comes out looking like a very highly polished aluminum. This coating can withstand temperatures up to 1,300ºF and will reduce skin temps on pipes by about 300ºF. It is a very low maintenance finish, easily cleaned with soap and water. You can use any non-abrasive aluminum polish to bring out the shine if it ever gets dirty. It will never turn blue or gold like chrome or stainless. This coating works great on normally aspirated engines and any parts that need to have a show quality finish.
EXTREME STERLING is very similar in appearance to Sterling but not quite as bright. It will hold its shine 200ºF higher and can actually withstand temps up to 1,700ºF. This amazing finish normally cuts down about 400ºF on the skin temperature of pipes. This coating is great for mild turbocharged or supercharges applications, or on pipes that have turned grey with other silver finishes.
