Cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Just past there you can go west up onto a hill that once on top of you can look back over the bridge with SF as the background. Great photo opportunity. I think it was a military post at one time. There are huge concrete gun placements there for defending the coast. Also, ride the cable cars and go to the cable car museum.
Trivia: The cable cars are powered by a cable that runs under the streets and it's one long cable that never stops while the cars are running. The cars use a clamp to grab and release the cable for motion. Specially trained weavers weave the begining and end of the cable together. Even thought at that point the cable is doubled, it still has the same diameter as the rest of the cable.
