I will be moving a friend to Rock Falls, Illinois in my SRT10 with a U-Haul trailer. Here is a link to the route I'll be taking. Anybody else have any suggestions to the best route? Do any Socal members have a trailer we can rent? Also I would like to meet some of the VTCOA members along the way. Please let me know if we can meet up. I will be leaving Sept 15 early am and arriving in Rock Falls, Illinois by Sept 18. I will be leaving Rock Falls, Illinois on Sept 19 evening and back by Sept 21.

I'd let you rent my trailer... but I am in Arizona, its a 20 x 8.5 feet enclosed box trailer, car hauler, total lenght about 24 feet, tandem axle, dry weight around 3500lbs.

Believe me.. its a looooonnngg arse drive... done it many times going back to my home state of Iowa...

If you want to save yourself about 4 hours of drive time, take 40 out of Cali, through AZ and New Mexico to Tucumcari, then grab Highway 54 out of Tucumcari, that will take you all they way to Wichita, KS (long boring drive... but nice quiet 2 lane highway most of the way...plus you get to cruise along the old Route 66 part of the way)

Once in Wichita, take the 335 Toll route to Kansas City, then take the "outer loop" at Kansas City.. (I-435), then grab 35 north to Des Moines Iowa, then take 80 East through Iowa, and into Illinois....

Mapquest allways takes me the "scenic route" that are sponsored by their advertisers.. I found this little backway many years ago, and have been taken it ever since... just ask any truckers who drive that route.

Thanks Patrick,

I've known Pete for over 17 years and sometimes when our friends need help we have to go the extra 4000 miles.:D Pete is another example of the fading economy out here in LA. He lost his job after the owner of the Theatre he works for passed away. The landlord will not renew the lease unless thet agree to triple the rent.

Also if anyone needs to have anything picked up or delivered I'd be happy to help. I will be going thru Texas on the way back home till I hit the 10 Freeway. Not sure of the exact route but will post it up later.

We left LA this morning at 9:00 am. We just passed Blythe California. We are Taking the 10 all the way to Texas and heading North through Austin. Give me a call if you would like to meet up.

My thoughts exactly. What a great guy! I need a few more friends like him! Kudos!

:shakehands:

Here are some pics of the trip. Most are on the way home and the truck has a graveyard of bugs and dirt.

Enjoy:
