Im going with 2 of my friends tonight one is taking his 9 sec. NOVA, and the other is taking his pontiac GTP, Im taking the truck what I want to know is what RPM's do i launch from and do i just dump the clutch.

Im going to the tack on US 27

what is the name of it? You really should come to breakaway tommorrow. I will be there and I believe 2 others.

With my mods I usally "depending on track prep" run mine up to 3 or 3 1/2 grand and dump the clutch and if I spin just start feathering the gas

From what I have read:

Drop your rear tire pressure down to 27lbs
Run the RPM's up to 3200-3500

and read this thread on dumping the clutch: LINK

Most importantly have fun & be safe!

Take some pics!

what rpms depends on track prep.

if you slip youre clutch in will burn up quicker, but you will get a better 60ft time,,,,,look at thread " dumping the clutch"

I would go down to 22 lbs Infact I think tommorrow I will be going down to 20

also unhook youre front swaybar , its only 2 nuts and dont forget to take the "snubbers" off too, its a 5 min job to take them off and 5 min to put them back on. also too take off that K@N filter and get some pantyhose to put over the pipe. I usually get a big rubberband to hold the pantyhose in place.. I can tell a big difference without a filter on my intake. Also with youre caltracs at the track I have been going about 1 1/2 turns and can tell a difference instead of the 1/4 turn they say. And bump youre front air pressure to max psi.

And take out all exces weight. aalot of people say the spare tire is good weight "because of traction" but at the track with caltracs I dont agree,, get rid of the weight. even if you have to launch a little less aggerrisive you will make it up on the big end.. for every 100 pounds is a tenth and that spare weighs alot.

Taking 100 pounds of a 5200lb vehicle is not going to make a diffrence the extra weight will actually help. If you don't agree ask our 10 second man Mike Brady:rock:

it might not make a difference when you have as much horsepower as him and you need the weight but with the stock truck I say shed the weight

every bit of weight you get rid of does help,,,,if it dont why dont you see top fuel guys with lead straped to the back. If you need extra weight to help with traction that means youre suspension is not right. Ask any racer and they will tell you every 100 ponds is a tenth, and a tenth means winning or loosing

I have tryed both alot and my times are better without the spare 90% of the time. ofcourse I take my tailgate off too.

BUT LEAVE THE WING ON:rock:

You made a good point about the suspension set up. I meant weight distribution for the type of trucks we have:dontknow:

unhook that sway bar it will allow the trucks weight to stay on the ass instead of "springing back"

I went there last Saturday prep on the track isn't that great, but had lots of fun. I might go out there tonight, but I don't have my truck. Its being tuned

so the prep sucks

I HEARD THAT TRACK IS HORRIBLE, BUT I AM SURE ALL THE ATTENTION AND MONEY IT IS BRINGING IN THAT EVENTUALLY IT WILL GET BETTER. HAVE FUN

Last year this track was terrible. Now it is all new. Concret to the 330 and hooks like a bitch. I run my bike there twice a month. Tonight will be my first trip in my truck. I guess Stick is going to have fun smokin me.

DLM is still working on the tune. They bypassed the PCM and running the split second controller with a custom fuel map. The truck on the original tune was running pig rich. They're lean it out a bit at a time so I don't blow up the engine.

LITEM,

I CANT WAIT TO SEE YOUR TRUCK, ITS GOING TO BE F-ING SWEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTT!!!
