I made what I think is a very fair deal for this truck. It's a 2006 that only had 1,200 miles on it. Has navigation, rear defrost, factory tonneau, side airbags, and some sort of an SRT-10 plastic liner in the bed. I gave $27,300 for it at Woodhouse Dodge in Nebraska, and drove it home this weekend to Syracuse, NY. I put as many miles on it this weekend as the previous owner did in 3 years of ownership.
My dad and I are using the truck for One Lap of America.
After a few posts here, I'm still working on my list of stuff to do to get the vehicle ready for the race.
My plan for the winter is (so far):
New battery, new serpentine belt.
Brake rotors/pads and wheel bearings, maybe EBC yellow or Hawks, not sure yet here.
Change oil, transmission lube, axle lube.
B&M shifter.
Better clutch and hydraulics, probably the centerforce model, unless a sponsor shows up with a freebie.
I'm debating the power steering and oil lines, and maybe the coolant and hoses - the vehicle was stored in a climate controlled facility and driven a few hundred miles a year, so I'm not sure if it's necessary.
Valentine 1 detector and one of those fancy mounts to hang it from the mirror.
A CB radio of some sort.
New tires, haven't decided on a brand yet.
I'm sure more stuff will come up. I've decided not to do any changes to the suspension or engine work. If we like the 2010 race and go back for 2011, I might make it faster.
