An F5 hit the town.

F5 tornados are the most powerful of the bunch. If I remember right the wind speed on an F5 is 270 to 300+ MPH.

Not something you want to be in.
 
THAT WAS NASTY.WE ALL NEED TO PRAY FOR THE PEOPLE IN THAT TOWN.
PRETTY MUCH LEVELED THE WHOLE TOWN!!

F5 was the old scale. Theres now an EF rating that came out this year. Its harder to reach EF5 status, but from the pics it looks close. We (us meteorologists) now have tools, pictures, etc to use when assessing the EF rating, things like how the house/structure was built, etc. A well constructed home can take more wind then one weakly built. Lots of stuff to consider when giving a rating, now its much better.

Yep.. you were close...

The old F scale, for F5 was 261-318mph, and new new EF scale is 200-234mph, and I recall them saying winds were sustained at 205mph... but I could be wrong...

But the devastation from what I can see is uncomprehensible...
 
WOW, that is unreal damage, That looks worse than Hiroshima.

Whats really amazing is now it's Bush's falt cause the NG is Low on equipment!!

i live about 2 hours from there. It was a horrible storm. we have been hit hard for about a week now. i am going to be passing through there on friday.
 
AS some of you may know, my wife (itsmine2) is currently working in Greensburg assisting the victims.

She just sent me these photos of some of the damage. I will get more soon.
