Some very good reading here.I believe that immigration legal and illegal is out of control.The fact that immigrants are willing to do types of labor that we Americans don't want to do makes them an attractive ecomonic entity.Greed drives most business,not the long term benefit of the country/citizenry.I am totally against the policy of declaring a person born on U.S. soil citizen automatically.If their mother wasn't a citizen,her child should not be either,regardless of the physical location of the birth.(i.e., if the cat had kittens in the oven,we wouldn't call'em biscuits)Maybe over-simplified,but very clear analogy. Yes,the Native peoples were done a horrible injustice.You may see some getting large sums of money,some building casinos or whatever,but for every one of those,there are dozens living in squalor.I believe America was destined to be,but that does not excuse the actions of some of those that brought it about .Then there were the Chinese who were abused in the building of the railroads and the Aficans whe were brought here as slaves and forced to make others wealthy.
However,all that is in the past,and painful and wrong as it was,we can't undo any of it.The Natives were lied to and taken advantage of at every turn and yes they had laws.Maybe if they had a better immigration policy,they would still be enjoying their way of life ? Now we have laws as the United States of America and lots of those are directly related to when/where/how you can leagally immigrate into this country.We can not continue to absorb these people for very much longer and still have our own unique American culture.I am not saying that we refuse entry to everyone,just that everyone enter legally,no excuses.
We DO NOT live in a Democracy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We live in a REPUBLIC !!! The will of the majority is not what we live by.As a Republic,we are governed by a Constitution.A Democracy will ineveitably destroy itself.If you don't believe me,just go the library or do a search on the web.Given enough time,you may eventually elect enough people that believe what you believe and change the constitution to reflect that belief,but you are still ruled by the constitution,not the will of the majority.
If you desire to live here,you should be seeking to become a citizen and love your new homeland.Somehow,somewhere this notion has been abandoned in favor of "multiculturalism".We need to get back to Americanism,whereby you come to America to become an AMERICAN,not a "Mexican-American","African-American","Irish-American",etc. I am of Scottish,Welsh,Shawnee,English heritage but I call myself an American.Period.I am very proud of my ancestry,but even prouder to be an AMERICAN !!!!!!!!!
I am not against any race because of their language,skin color,native country,etc.I am against people trying to change the America of my fathers,grandfathers,great-grandfathers.It is nearly perfect in it's original form and needs no changing.Otherwise,why are so many so eager to come here ? But if you change it,it won't be the America you need,just the one you want.Beware of what you want,you just may get it.
