My head lights automatically shut off after I shut the truck off and leave the light switch in the on position, after 5 minutes---can the timing be adjusted to less time? Is it safe to leave the switch on all the time?:dontknow: ....I'm Looking for a insurance discount.

ITS fine to leave your switch on at all times... i usually do, after the modules power down they'll turn off... as far as time adjustment there isnt any.

You can have the DRL's turned on by your dealer. It's just a switch in the computer that they turn on. Once they enable the DRL's in the computer, when you release your parking brake your DRL's come on. Cost about $40 bucks.

It's true, I have had this done, they go on and of with ignition on/off and if e-brake is on, they will be off as Silvr.. said. Only thing is the hd. lts. act as the DRL's, I'd much prefer it to be the driving lights or both.

But the headlights do not burn at full (Low Beam) brightness. I believe it is at reduced output so that they will last longer. DRL's are required in Canada and that's why Chrysler made it so easy to switch on (I think).

We've tried to turn them on for various US vehicles. Some work and some don't. It depends on the circuit and vehicle/model/year. Yes, they do run at a lower output.

is it possible to set that switch on with a scan gauge tool or is it only a "reader" tool?
I have no idea what tool they used to turn them on.

I know it only costs around $30 here in Canada to get Dodge to turn your DRL's on.

I don't undertstand why the States haven't made it law for DRL's??? It just makes it that much easier to spot another vehicle... especially for those idiots who drive around at night or dusk without any.................. :damnmate:

The tech that turned mine on used a hand held scan tool that plugs in to port under steering wheel. He wasn't sure if they were there on the trucks or not, but had them on in less than a minute after plugging in. I would think that most of the aftermarket $2-300 on up electronic scan/diagnostic tools that are out nowadays are capable of doing this. some of the cheaper/more basic models prob. not.
