Header install

Hi all, I need a little help and I tried searching. I am going to be installing Mopar headers on my friends '03 SRT-10 and was wondering if anyone knew a link to a thread here or had any good tips on help installing them (I thought I saw a thread here and can't find it).

I have plenty of experince turning a wrench. I did all the work on my GTO myself (head,cam,exhaust,etc) and have done multiple sets of headers on these cars and have em down to 4 hours start to finish. So with knowing what I'm doing working on a car and having pretty good knowledge of what I am doing, what should I expect?

So thread, tips/hints, advice, anything to help would be much appreciated.

Well....nobody here has any experience working on a 03 Ram SRT-10 since there isnt such a thing

Assume you meant 04....... what are the plans in regards to mids and connection to the muffler ?


Use stock replacement gaskets.

Retorque the bolts after 100 miles.

Pull the inner fender liners off for easy access.

Disconnect the battery....when you pull the stock exhaust manifolds...the metal stock gaskets will fall into the starter leads and weld themselves wherever they may fall

- Remove front wheel well liners
VOILA! Awesome access to the sides of the engine!

DISCONNECT THE NEG. BATTERY CABLE!
I know it sounds odd for a simple header install, but it's important so that you don't get an unwanted light show.

Also, doing it solo SUCKS because of leverage, holding the metal gaskets in place, etc. .
Get a helper. Or two.

you should pull the wheel liners but I didn't. drivers side is a tight fit w/ the mopars you have to disconnect the steering rod thingy. other than that purty basic....definately easier than the 05 Magnum RT was!

just put the mopar performance headers on my truck and first i would sugest to get them jet hot coated. there is a huge diffrence in under hood temp. the tech that installed my headders also did a pcm and a cat back at the same time. it took him about 5-6 hours. yes the left side is a bit tight and the steering linkage did need to come off. but its well worth the time. looks sweet under the hood now, sounds like a fast truck now and the trick now is traction. you got any extra traction you could throw my way.
