Headers question

I have not had headers before. My question, why are they so darn expensive? I mean they are just steel tubes, can't be more then a few hundred in materials. Is it the labor in making them? Are they hand made or something?

$2000 for a set just seems outrageous?

Mostly the limited amount of trucks produced. There's only a certain amount of profit to be made due to quantity of our trucks.

If the power gains are limited, how many would suggest a good catback system over headers, mids, and catback?

Not looking to waste money, but want to do it right.

Headers and a 3" exhaust system can be done and is one of the best mods out there for any vehicle really.
Headers do make power in the mid to top end with slight loss of torque in low end. :rock:

Limited market is the reason for the price as others have said. Look up LS1 headers, a good set is less than $500 because there are tens of thousands of vehicles out there that can use them.

Long tubes on a 10 gain about 35 HP I believe so you can do your own cost benefit analysis based on that. Shop around there are better prices than $2K as well.
