How much power increase would I see from long tubes and which brands are best? I have a stock '04 RC with no cats.

Power increases vary but, 25-30 average, sometimes a little more. American Racing, Belanger, Billy Boat, and Mopar Performance would be your options. All very good quality but, you will get many different opinions. Only downside to the mopar set is a 2.5" collector versus the others all having a 3" collector.

If you find a used set of any, jump on them, they don't last long. If price isn't of concern just buy the cheapest set you find listed by a vendor on this site. You'll be happy with the results!

I agree with the power increase, but dont let the 2.5" collector size compared to the 3" collector size persuade your decision,I really dont think and havent seen any proof of it affecting HP differences unless you are up in the 1000 RWHP range or better.

I am running American Racing Headers. Best headers I have ever used. Easy fit. Every nice. As far as power, they all make about the same.

I swear by Belanger or Bassani but since Bassani no longer makes them....Belanger FTW!:chain:

For what it's worth, let me offer this.....I have MoFo headers (on my stock engine) which are very similar in design to the Belanger, just a different power cone inside. They are basically a tri-Y header and not true equal length headers. But in talking with Chris Jensen about my upcoming Gen IV head conversion, he said the American Racing Headers 5 into 1 design made the most power in the Viper cars he tuned. Therefore I have a custom made ARH 1 7/8 race headers 5 into 1 for my new engine. The MoPar headers may also be equal length....I suspect not a big difference in any of the long tubes...so go for the best deal.

I went from 403 stock to 444 after adding BB long tubes, BB catless mids, MBRP catback, and larger TB plus tune.

Well said Trainman, the Mopar LT's are the only equal length header out there other then maybe some custom ones made, I like the equal length idea being the same idea and Mopar probably spent a few bucks testing them too :)

Its a shame there not made anymore.

I checked the ARH website and they offer equal length longtubes in 1 3/4 primaries for our SRT-10 Rams. The 1 7/8 primary race tubes are available on request.

I agree 100%. No manufacturer is probably going to spend more time R&D than Mopar for their own shit. IMO….

For whatever reason they found that 2.5" was adequate for collectors.

It's because it was designed to run along side their cam, intended for a mild build! I had a flow chart that showed a build in excess of 600 hp on a V8 benefited strongly from an increase from 2.5 to 3" in exhaust. That was the complete exhaust though.

i think you might see 15 hp with headers only.

you need a list of other supporting mods to benefit from headers.

I agree 100%! You will instantly go from 15hp to 50hp if you add on a set of Truck Nuts and a Rebel flag!!!!

I went with the Belanger easy fit,and I think they are still onsale right now.but in my opinion,if you want to get down to the nut cutting...you cannot beat a 5 into 1 = equal length header.
