After spending the majority of yesterday on here reading and trying to make a decision, i feel i stll need a little more advice. Im trying to head off this weekend to pick up a truck (finally) and I can't figure out which would suit me better. On one side, the RC fits in my garage, you can go out and bang some gears. I dont have kids, its just my wife and I, and I drive about 23 miles one way to school. Would be heading to the dragstrip every once in a while, and would maybe be interested in the occasional auto X or road course. Im mod happy, (although slowly while in school lol) On the other hand, I like the added space of the quad cab. Ive ridden in a QC ( although it had a Roe SC and a ton of other mods so I dont think it justifies making a decision based on that). The problem is the QC and the RC are hours apart in distance lol..and I'm already driving 3.5-4 hours one way just to look at one of them.

Also, between the 05 an 06 model years, how much more are mods for the 06 and can you provide some examples? I know the exhaust hangers have to be moved on an aftermarket exhaust which really isnt really a big deal, but is it really that much more of a hassle having an 06?

So overall what I'm looking for is some feedback from owners. Not really a Biased "this is the best because I own it" but moreso a I bought this and this is what I love, and this is what I wish were different. Thanks for the help! Lookin forward to bein an official member soon! lol

Also, last minute question. Is there a desireable headunit to look for btwn the Rb1 an Rb4 and do either of them have an aux input for an ipod?

RC or QC

I have the 05 QC and i love it. I to have no kids, but i do love the extra room. What ever you decide your gonna love it.  :rock

As far as model year goes. The 04 is better for highway and topspeeds because of the rear gears. It does bog a bit off the line at the drag strip but can get like 17 mpg on highway. The 05 06 will be better for the city and drag strip but I personally don't like the seats and console in 06 but I do like the dash better. You seem to be similar to my situation as school goes. I go to college 5 days a week and personally wouldn't reccomend the truck for use todrive back and forth. Maintenance is to high for my broke ass. That's why I got a DD that is cheap to keep up. If u get an 04 get a late production so all the kinks are worked out. MIne was made in the last month. Might not matter if u had a good previous owner. I have a cover on the bed and don't really feel constricted to space in my RC but then again I don't drive it daily. Both the QC and RC have their minor mods that must be done so be ready for that. Good Luck hope this helps.

I have 05 rc and love the 6 speed but one thing i dont have and is a must on my list is a bed cover and cargo net.with that 6 speed things get thrown around pretty good.

For you it is a matter of taste and preference. Decide what you want more. Room/Ease of driving or Speed/Shifting gears. The QC will need some trans modding, the 48RE has some issues (search the threads). It gets worse gas mileage because it is only a 4 speed but it can tow. The RC will get much better gas mileage and does not have the transmission woes of the QC, weak clutch I believe is the complaint with the RC. RC is stick so you will be shifting gears.

I have a QC and also have kids, I need the room and love my truck. For you it seems the RC would better suite your needs. You don't have kids and you want to take it to the track. Not that a QC can't go to the track it justs sounds you are more describing what fits the buid of the RC. Good luck in getting the truck.

One thing to note if you are looking at the 06. It is rare, not many made. So that could be something to consider as well, it will be very very unique. Not that the 04 and 05 aren't unique.:D

tbh i wish i had bought an RC :( the QC is just too big , even though i have 2 kids we usually take the wifes car when going out .

maybe someday an RC will be mine .

RC= sporty, quick,better handling
VS.
QC= more seating, can tow (RC can tow,but not recomended)

Same here QC no kids just love the extra room....tranny i sbadass once you do some cheap fixes to it..but from what I read the manual also needs some mods too....
SCT on the QC gets you best bang from wjat I read....Also you can tow with the QC....
Both are great trucks...to each is own:rock:

If your driving 46 miles a day back and forth to school get something else. Figure four days a week 4.25 weeks a month with gas where its at you are looking at ~270$ just to get to school.

If thats fine then get the QC they are much more comfortable on long drives. I could not do a 50 mile commute in my RC. I love it but its bouncy and with the lighter wieght it moves around a lot on bumpy surfaces.

You have to decide whether you want the QC or RC...so much difference they are really not comparable....as far as performance goes the QC is 3-5 tenths slower than the RC (providing you can handle a manual well) if you flash the QCs PCM to stop TQ control and change timing, etc.....

As far as 05 vs 06......no real difference in modding costs as most mods fit both year models......interior is much different..I dont like the 06 interior so I put an 05 interior in my 06..

If I was you, i would go for the RC. You still have a (short) bed of space for 'stuff'....

I have kids and love the auto trans so the decision was easy made

Do you want to shift or an auto? That is likely the biggest factor. I did not think my truck was comfortable so the long drives might not be too fun. I had an '06 QC and if I were to do it over I would buy an '05 RC (YF or CE). I like the '05 interior. It has a 3rd seat in the RC vs the '06 with only seating for two and the mods are more readily available (especially used) and cheaper in many cases. If you want the most limited production for resale value, go with an '06 or VCA edition. The 05's are lighter than the 06's due to frame changes. Like I said, my pick would be an 05 RC.

'05 QC !!! My QC is now the Family vehicle !!!Whenever we go anywhere,it's in my truck !!!
