help deciding between RC and QC and model year

If you have time to choose, keep your eye's open for either a special edition (Yellow Fever, Night Runner, VCA or CE) or one produced in a non typical color. Look for an '06 in Silver or Flame Red. I think those were exported to Canada but there weren't many of them. Those will be ultra rare. Just make sure it is the factory paint job and not a repaint.

Oh........
QC = Hauling groceries.:aetsch:
RC = Hauling Azz. :D:driver:

'05 QC !!! My QC is now the Family vehicle !!!Whenever we go anywhere,it's in my truck !!! :rock: :rock: :rock: :rock:

Ditto. As for performance, manuals are for boys who like doing burnouts for their friends. Automatics win races.:D

06 Regular Cab with built performance Auto. Light weight, sexy small looks, consistency, handling and performance all in 1. Best of both worlds. :D

i'd agree autos are more consistant, but the manual with a good driver will have the last laugh:D

Go all rc and manual trans! After all, consistency is in the driver - right? Anybody can be consistant in an auto but only a select few can pull it off with a manual trans. Some complain of shifting issues but, the stock shifter works fine with a little practice and "want to".
Either way you choose, you'll get a super truck.

If I didn't have a 3 y/o I would have bought a RC. I got to drive a YF RC one time and they are super fun!!! Good Luck!

I just couldn't see myself shifting a truck all day I had a GMC manual and that lasted for about a year and I couldn't take it anymore....
You will get better MPG in a RC but is it worth shifting to you:dontknow: If you have a lot of stop and go then you have a choice to make...
I love my QC and just partial to the fact of a 2-3 person vehicle...I like people riding with me:D Plus you can use the backseat;)

damn ya'll are awesome....post before work, come home and have 3 pages worth to read through hahaha Im still not definite..leaning towards the RC a bit...only two of the 9 vehicles i've owned have been automatic so im used to sitting in traffic with the stick etc...and the ENTIRE drive to school is all highway miles so it shouldn't be too terrible, and i won't be towing anything...Im curious to know, some of you have stated that there are mods that need to initially be done to the RCs..what exactly is it that the truck needs? As far as going with a Collectors edition truck, ehh i dunno..Im going to be racking up so many miles on it that I dont think I'm going to hold out on one. Lot of nice looking trucks on here of both types to make the decision even harder haha.

Buy an 04 if you're doing a lot of miles. They are the only year to have the 410 diff and they save $$$ on gas. However, the 05 and up are a little faster on take off with their lower gearing. Just giving you some more for your brainstorming session...

If mpg is an issue you are looking at the wrong vehicle. You will also be changing the oil every 3000 miles and using premium syn oil.

Why not get a beater, focus on school, do very well...get a great job and then have any SRT 10 you want without the financial concerns...

There are many here that have tried to have it all...and stumbled in the process, sometimes you just need to wait.

Sounds like a real downer doesn't it???!

Well, you should know that the reason I say this is that I am the ...

Haha. That's what people told me. I don't know his major but for me mine is very stressful and it just is a relief to have it and he able to giblow off some stress. If he is like me he could never own just a beater. I used to have one but I had my silverado that I built myself with 19" of lift. I say you are only young once so have fun!!!!!

Buy now while these things are cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When the recession is over, they will be out of reach.

I understand the prices are already starting to rise around the Houston area.

Highway gas mileage will be waaaaay better in an RC. I think you want an RC from reading your posts. Now you just need to choose the year and color. As others have said, you probably want to avoid early model year 04's unless the owner has taken care of all the issues. As for mods needed right away on an RC, many say the clutch must be replaced but many others have put over 40k miles on the stock clutch. Yellow Fever #068 is for sale on here and I think it is a smokin deal. Check it out. I think he will take $20k or less and it has a bunch of nice visual mods. It would be my choice of all the trucks I have seen for sale.
