help deciding between RC and QC and model year

Sounds like an RC is for you...either one you buy GET A WARRANTY...if you find a cool tranny shop they'll do the work under a "warranty"....
If this is the truck you've been looking at and really want than get it...the cheap price will justify your gas...and gas will only be bad for about the first month during the "getting used to" after that you'll settle down a little:D
Also, I may be wrong Prof, but with premium synthetic oil can't you get away with changing every 5K miles???

Im not really worried about the gas mileage too much....on days when the wife doesnt work, ill take hers to school lol. I've also heard that with a true full synthetic motor oil you can wait until the 5k mark...i've been a diehard chg the oil every 3k my entire life, but from what I've read, you're throwing money away doing that with a full synthetic. I think i've narrowed it down to a RC...i do like the QCs, but it'll be nice to go out and run through the gears for a little bit when school stresses me out lol. Speaking of which, any of you TX guys have any experience w Texas Direct Auto? They have a few trucks there im gonna go take a look at this weekend.

From what you have posted, a Regular Cab is your fix. Case closed! :D Just beware, the mod bug will bite you - BAD. I wouldn't worry about performance as you will no doubt mod the shit outta it anyway so if 500 stock horses isn't enough there are plenty of routes to take to accommodate your wants and needs. ;)

You may not have had a performance vehicle like this before. While it may be false economy, your engine deserves fresh oil and a new filter every 3k. It will help you to sleep better and if you are not worried about fuel costs, then a few more oil/filter changes will not impact your budget severely. Keep your habit of every 3k and add a transmission and rear end service every 9k...it will be your quality time with your truck.
