hi all,

i just installed mopar headers/mid pipes and a set of champion double platinum plugs. I am all finished, started the truck, and it running really rough. I go new tunes from Torrie and those are all installed also. I double checked to make sure all sensors were hooked back up and all. The only thing I am noticing is that the plug wires dont seem to be setting as far down as they did before I took them off. The plugs I removed were ngk's. I pushed pretty hard on them and they dont seem to want to drop down on the plugs anymore, so I figured they were seated as far down as possible.

Any help or input for something I should check next? Or does the computer just need to reset and get used to the new setup? Thanks for any input in advance!

Anthony

Anthony, did you take pictures of how the wires are seated on the plugs? If so could you post them here? Did you feel a good 'click' when you pressed them onto the plugs? Usually #7 and #9 plugs give the greatest problems because of where they are located on the drivers side.

did you have a hard time removing plug wires from old spark plugs ,,,if you pulled too hard you may have messed up your plug wires:dontknow:

I know I got the wires back on the right plugs. The wires were difficult to get off but I tried not to force it too badly b/c of what I read on here. From the sounds of things, it seems like everyone thinks it definitely has to do with the plugs or wires?

Need to know a few things:

Is there a check engine light on now?
Mine runs kinda rough at idle especially cold
Have you driven it does it missfire that you notice?
Chances are you may have a bad spark plug if you dropped one try changing that one.

And finally if u checked all the above and everything checked out fine ..... Well ur f_ _ ked!!!! Lol! Just kidding!! Double check what everyone has posted. I'm sure nothing complicated to resolve.

Yes, the check engine light is on now. I think it does have a misfire too when driving. It idles kinda rough. And I didnt drop any and was pretty careful. Ill have to check them all out tomorrow. Thanks for all the help!

at night look under the hood, with a rubber glove move the wires around , see if you see any spark , if not pull the wires off one at a time until you cannot tell a difference, the offending wire will cause no difference in idle

Do you mean to start the engine, and then just wiggled the wires while they are on the plugs and see if it sparks? If it sparks, what does that mean?

And Tony, the chrome headers look bad ass installed!! Thank you so much for all the help!!!

If u see a spark...... That could be the reason! That means that wire is bad or not connected properly! Take to your nearest advance auto or autozone they will hook it up to one of their scanners for free and let u know why the engine light is on.

Save the trip to Vatozone and cycle the key from the off position to on, back to off, back to on, back to off one more time and on. 3 cycles and leave in the on position and see what code comes up where your mileage is. Do not start only turn key switch to on.;)

If you have an sct use the code reader function see what the code(s) are.

if ya really brave, grab each plug wire, stick it to ya tongue, have someone crank it over, the one that dont make your hair stand on end, is probably the bad wire:D

P 0301 is the code which was cylinder one. I pulled the plug and it wasnt gapped so I regapped it and all is great! Chrome coated long tube Mopar Headers are bad ass and sound awesome!!!!

Thanks for all the help and hints!!!
