Thanks guys for all the posts! Anyone else wanna chime in, keep em coming! We will be going for the QC without a doubt, (part of the reason she disregarded the Lightning) I gotta give a little too in the deal haha. Which I'm good with. I've driven manual transmissions all my life but am currently in an automatic and with the commute and city driving I dont mind it. As far as modding, as bad as the urges are, it won't go any further than intake/exh/tuner over the next few years (I'm going into debt up to my eyes with school) haha. And as far as towing, we wont be at all. Basically just want a truck now that we have a house, and moving/purchasing furniture and appliances and I have a few projects I want to work on, so carrying lumber and stuff wouldnt work in our current vehicles. And as far as the gas prices if gas went up, I definitely couldn't see diesel being any cheaper haha which is a plus on the SRT side gaswise lol...Thanks again guys..awesome community here!

Phatpharmacist, I was hoping you were gonna chip in lol...its Kyle (Blazin wings challenge at Buff Wild Wings a bit over a month ago with Sy) Surprised to hear you got rid of it! Whats going to be the replacement? or is all that extra money just gonna go to the vette?
Diesel is less expensive then premium is by almost $.20 down here....definitely hold out and get something you want....this truck is still a blast to drive with the auto..i couldn't imagine shifting the QC all day....the bottom line with the tranny is that it wasn't given the proper attention by dodge, it should of had it own special auto made for it instead of taking it out of the diesel and making minor changes to fit the viper...BUY A WARRANTY..find a cool transmission shop that knows about these tranny's and have them perform proper upgrades under warranty the 2 biggest and most important...shift kit and upgraded GM solenoid.the solenoid dodge put in is like a piece to a kids toy and causes major pressure issues with shifting....be prepared to take the wing off if you plan on using the bed for moving..

OK, so heres the deal.

The diesel will get way better mileage and will likely be much cheaper to own in the long run....or will it???

Every time I have a stressful day, all I have to do is go for a ride in my truck: the odd rumbly sound of the Viper motor on start up, the force of acceleration onto the highway on-ramp, the unique howl of a V-10 at red-line, and the beautiful sight of my speedometer sweeping past 100 mph before it even shifts into overdrive....

You just can't get that in a diesel. At least not for any reasonable amount of money. Think how much you will save on therapy, and antidepressants. Plus, once you are a pharmacists, the last thing you need is to be tempted to sneak on over to the narco shelf and help yourself just because you are feeling so distraught over having bought the wrong truck.

So just tell your sweetheart that you need to buy the Viper truck in order to stay out of prison...

Oh, and like the others have said, be prepared to do some upgrades and mods on the automatic tranny. But, it's basically the same automatic tranny that is in the Dodge diesel pickups, so I call that a wash.

Hahaha awesome post...I never factored in the therapeutic and lawful side of the truck..great new aspect to shoot from

Welcome to the asylum......

So, let me get this straight........ You want us to lie to yer lady...? ;)

D

to clear things up the SRT's come with a 3yr/36k mile warranty only. The SRT's are excluded from the 7/70k powertrain. However you can purchase an extended warranty...

GREENLIGHT!!!!!!!!!! hahaha...after her definitive "No way" last week, I spent some time this afternoon putting together a power point presentation haha. Comparing the truck to the diesel listing pros and cons of both and calculating gas mileage for our commute, yearly maintenence and repair averages using edmunds "cost to own" website. After laying it all out, and her seeing the actual numbers compared (and a few sweet pics) to the diesel, she was good with it! Bring on the trucks!!!!! lol Now just gotta wait for a gray or black QC with low miles to pop up at a dealership so I can trade my car in..

Check carmax, autotrader, and caranddriver. Car and Driver has alot listed.

The sad part as I already caught myself looking up exhaust setups and programmers....sigh.......it never ends.....

Since you got the greenlight (congrats by the way) You had better snatch up MMMmmmmmtorque's truck. It's by far the absolute best deal on a SRT10 (RC).

I saw that one! Sharp truck, awesome price..wish I could..but it HAS to be QC...that price is crazy..surprised its still available

An RC gets better MPG's. ;)

In that case, Tom WAZZSUP has a badass QC for sale as well.
