Help...Truck won't run!

Fellow Gearheads,

I just washed under the hood of my truck. Not even high pressure. Now it will crank up but won't run but about three seconds. Did I short out a sensor or something? Can I fix it with a hair dryer? Any of you guys ever experienced this?

I've never experienced this on my truck, but have on other cars. With the coils under the intake, my guess is you've gonna have to just let it air dry.

I would think the same as steve......maybe you got water in the spark system somewhere (coils, wires, etc..)

I would let it sit and dry for a day, then try it again...If it doesnt wk, then start taking things apart and make sure its dry...

Thats werid. I wash under the hood once a month and this never happen to me. I usually cover up the fuse box, battery, and computer. other than that she get a full wash down. Just let it air dry and see what happens from there. good luck

Wouldn't hurt to park it in a heated garage and let an oscillating fan blow on it at high speed with the hood up either.

Me too - never had a problem. Full pressure everywhere.

Damn I hate to let it sit outside tonight, but I'll see if it will air dry and start in the morning, or later tonight.
If it were the coils, I wouldn't think it would even start. That's why I thought it may be a sensor.
This makes me wonder about driving it in a heavy rain, with that big hole in the hood, you know it will come in there pretty strong.
Maybe I'll try a hair dryer on it after a while. Who knows?

This happens every once in a while at work if the clean up guys wash the motor when cleaning the cars up, we have good luck with useing compessed air around all the ignition componets.
Thats what I would do if you have a air compessor if not I would put a fan on it.

Do you have a VEC2? You could have gotten the card reader wet.

sounds like the vehicle imobilizer...do you have a red light on the dash that lights up or flashes?

take compressedair and dry the area around the ecm the ignition and injector wires may be doing it.that's on the passenger side.
and also the fuse box
do one at a time and see if you can tell which one it is
also after getting it to run you can also take some supeer hold hair spray andspray the components well it will make them somewhat waterproof.....ol fourwheelin trick

She cranked up and ran a little later. Put her in the garage where she belongs.
I think it was the immobilizer. The key fob wouldn't turn off the red flashing light in the dash until I unlocked the door with the key and then turned off the alarm with the fob.
Pre-shate the replies...I was getting in panic mode.
