hemis having fun

my bad i left the cap button on and by the time i realized it it was to late to erase and start over cause i already had typed to much....LOL

Ok sorry too. Now that we swapped spit in the shower what kind of mods did you do to make the 5.7 run those times?

I have a 5.7L Hemi Durango that will need to be upgraded soon. I have over 100K on the clock since I bought it new off the showroom. It's time to think some performance mods when its time to rebuild the trans and engine.

First it will have to be H/C with the heads being Big valve, ported and milled .30 to raise the compression from the stock 9.6. The cam since its a heavy SUV would have to make TQ and the best cam that has shown results is the HELLFIRE cam ( 216/220...525/531..112). ONce you get that out of the way of course you need LT headers, and good flowing exhaust, and a 3400 stall converter to match the cam from CircleD.

What gears do the durango come with? That would help getting the heavy pig out the hole

This set up got a 5050lb QC HEMI to run a 12.8x@103 and then he got it down to 4800lbs and ran a 12.56@106 N/A

All I can tell you is they are stock like the rest of the 05 truck. I will find out soon. It's a Limited if that makes a difference.

Should be 3.92 then. Im wonder if they are the same rear end as in the rams? If so then 4.56 would top it off and it should be very close to running what that QC runs but it seems to me that the durango is less aerodynamic than a ram even though they are both bricks

How many SRT10 owners are in the 10's Oh and thanks for the comment now i just need to work on the interior after i get my 10 sec slip

You are right about not many of us being in the 10's. That's something that is actually bit frustrating. But I think we can both agree that after a point, it just costs a lot to go fast. Once you have to start upgrading the short block, I would think the GM guys would have a distinct dollar to horsepower advantage.

Yup your right. I really think a H/C viper motor in my truck coud break 10's N/A. I don understand that the SRT10 are a bit heavier than the HEMI ram and to be honest the 6 speed is badass on the road or if you street race from a roll. If you want a track truck the automatic in a reg cab SRT10 would be badass

I'm not sure you would run 10's with a viper engine with h/c work done IMHO

I ran 12's with minor bolt on's and slicks - 11's on nos - and 10's soon to come "with no weight reduction"

My truck weighs 4500lb with me in it. If a bolton, tune only SRT10 with major weight reduction is running 11.8 i dont see why a heads and a good cam with ported intake and all the extra goodies can not drop the truck into the 10's even if its a 10.999

How much does a 10 normally gain power wise with the best heads, good cam and a ported intake

Let's just put it this was "and this IMO" from my personal experience I had a 540ci "fully built" on 175 shot of NOS my truck made 702 rwhp (not saying I had the best builder "JH") I expected more was promised more but just didn't happen.

I don't know about the numbers 'Ronnie' post about just a H/C swap and the gains they get - hard to believe. But who am I to say.

But he "says" he makes 550+ rwhp with a head and cam swap - I could be mistaken

Trainman is going to make the 10's happen on his 10 NA in the future!!!

WOW whats did you run with the 540 and 175 shot

IMO an auto in a SRTram RC ruins what makes the truck awesome.

sure an auto is consistent and better for the 1320 but damn it's boring on the highway and track.

In your 10? If so, what kind of 60', 1/4 mph with that 11.22 e/t?

Reason i ask is because Bobby runs mid 11's at 119ish in his QC on motor :)

At least 100hp would be my guess. My point earlier was that the Hemi motors respond well to bolt ons, we run 11.9 in a 5.7 Charger with just bolt on, 12.4 on 22's

Im guessing boltons means H/C, and full exhaust. If so that still badass cause that what most 6.1L runs with H/C at full weight

I totally agree and thats why i said if its a track truck a auto would be best but i a 6 speed on the street is wayyy better
