I purchased this truck from a Phoenix Dodge dealer and it STILL carries the factory warranty untill May of 2011! The story on this one owner (Officially) truck is: Driven (Showed) by a Detriot Executive for the first 2,000 mi. Then it went to a Chrysler Dealer Auction and was sold to a Tempe, AZ dealer as new. First official owner purchased in May of 06' and drove it 24,800 mi. It was obviously garage kept and never modified. Still had paper air filter and Scorpion tires.

Being the owner of a 96' Dakota w/ 5.2 V8, 5 spd. and Auburn 3:55 posi.

I was in a quandary as to what to do after 197,000 fun and reliable miles. I had been looking at SRT 10's for quite some time. So, do I supercharge the 'Ol Dak or "Upgrade" to the mother of all trucks?!?

Well, needless to say, the right one, with the right color and condition came along. Sold the 'ol Dak and put the cash down on the SRT.

My primary goal is to enjoy this truck "As Is" as much as possible. However, that is very hard to do. Speed, cornering and braking are VERY familiar to me being a Sportbike Rider. I have taken this truck as I bought it and did my favorite run as I do with my bikes. Took a buddy who rides with me and we both agreed, this truck ROCKS! I was able to get cose to the same cornering speeds that we reach on the bikes. Nothing UNDER 100 m.p.h. thorugh some mountain divided hwy. Of course, outright corner exit speed cannot be matched. The beauty is, you can drive in a peaceful cab, not be hot or cold and listen to an impressive audio system! Truely impressive!

As one Rag review stated "As much fun as a Moonshiner's house party".

Any mods I would consider will be PROVEN and completely REVERSABLE.

I have read through every post on this board of interest to me and have found out some very interesting information and opinions.

I already have been "Stinkerized" and have some idea's. The stock brakes are the most impressive. Stock suspention is very good. New Poly bushings are in order to tighten up the handling. K&N is already in the box (Paper has been saved), synthetic fluids throughout and just did the Motul 600 clutch master flush and bleed. Concidering the B&M shifter, BBK and a Cat-Back. I like the KISS method and I am not interested in engine killing mods.

Biggest question to the members is: Do I relly need a SCT/Torrie tune on a RC with BBK and Cat-Back?::dontknow:

Thanks for reading and I hope to meet and get to know some of you over time.

Later Guys!

Shawn

welcome to the RBC:rock:

sweet beast:burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

be sure to touch base with Viper Jeff for the Viper Truck master list & the Viper Truck regsitry:rock:

Welcome and that is one Sweet Black Beauty.... Enjoy...

BTW the SCT Tune will give your RC some but not as much as on a QC. Go with the other Bolt-on Mods first and then put the tune on it.

Cat-Back (worth about 10 HP and a Ton Better Sound(, Cat-Less Mids from JMB (worth about 25-30 HP), BBK TB (worth 10 Mid-Range HP and better throttle response), B&M Shifter (3rd Gear is a Beatch). That will get you started and you can make up your mind on the tune after that.

Again Welcome to the Insanity... :)

Congrats on the purchase!! ....as Chief said do the cat removal at least....most HP for the money mod....and the Torrie tune will make a difference.

Welcome to the Family

welcome to the forum, if you do the basic mods you will be happy, i have the catless mids, magnaflow catback, and a CAI. I put the SCT tune on later, and it made a difference, but not super amazing, if you do go with the KISS method, the basics would definitely make you happy

The things folks have said are mostly true.

A tune from DC Perf or Roe will give you 10 HP but the low end performance will make it much more fun to drive. The bottom end increase just makes the truck more driveable.

I have 2 trucks and have gotten carried away with both of them. One TT and the other F2 ProCharged. Both are way over the top and are a pain as at the level they are at, everything has to be custom fabricated. This is an agonizingly long process and very costly.

Kiss (keep it simple stupid) and enjoy driving your truck and keep it driveable without breaking the bank. Headers, catless mids, drop in K&N or Airaid air filter element, aftermarket or ported stock throttle body, and a good tune. These are things that will not break the bank and give you driving enjoyment.

I have almost the exact same mods you're contemplating (Magnaflow and K&N on it when I bought it, BBK throttle body and Roe tune a month ago, and B&M). I installed the throttle body and tune at the same time, so can't say much about them individually, but together they really woke the truck up. The best mod so far, though, has been the shifter. Shifting with the stocker is like stirring jello. I'd do that first.

Oh yeah, welcome!

Hey Guys.....

It's interesting what 15 months will do. Working with Tony at JTSVP to get all the proven, simple bolt on's has been a pleasure. He is a cool guy to talk to and he has taken good care of me..... Thanks Tony!:congrats:

My B&B exhaust expirience was everything I expected and the SOUND! Wow! I do not regret the overall cost of this high quality, performance enhancing system. Thanks to Mike, Billy and Eric!:congrats:

The biggest mod to tune the beast in was the AEM Wideband (From JTSVP). It allows you to provide very good feedback to Torrie at Unleashed. It was amazing how Torrie was able to fine tune my truck by e-mail based off my information....... over a Holiday weekend to boot! He truely does support his product (SCT) and his customer service is second to none. Thanks Torrie!:congrats:

The mods I chose and researched have made the truck just as reliable as a stocker. It will be easy to turn back to stock and gives the truck an overall boost in handling and excelleration. It is truely as much fun as a "Moonshiners House Party"!!!!!!
