Whats the highest compression our motors can run on pump gas. Will running forged internals allow for higher compression capabilities?

good read:rock:

for a daily driver seems bout 10.0 to 10.5 would be good.

someone posted up a formula/chart for C/R, boosted
I was thiking about 10:1 when I did my build, but again the daily driver aspect came into play. Even though 93 is all I put in (except 107:p ) I didnt want to risk it. But now when I do my coversion then when I tear back into her I may go 10:1 or 10:5 since lpg/ng octane rating is compable to 100oct. But that is on the back burner. No easy answer here. It depends on several things.

One answer could be: As high as you can as long as the engine doesn't detonate. That is what you are fighting...

Forged parts are stronger parts but if the engine is under detonation, the forged pistons will also fail; just maybe not in a spectacular fashion like o.e.m. pistons can.
You may have blow-by, a catch can that is filling up faster than normal, a dipstick that likes to shoot out of the hole or maybe all of the above...

As mentioned, GENERALLY a c.r. in the low 10:1 range should be fine...It depends how serious you want to get, your end goal and of course if you are on a budget or not.

The stock combustion chambers aren't exactly state of the art and unless you go aftermarket, you are stuck with those and somewhat limited if you want to take your engine power plan up a few notches.

i'm running a 10:2 ratio and drive it daily.... i run her pretty hard also!

Im Curious

I'm thinking of this setup. Please any advice or feedback would be great. Or you think i should go with another package or piece together. I want to stay NA. With probably a slight slight bore/hone while im inside. And obviously all new gaskets ARP Head bolts, etc. Is it worth using these heads or just having mine P/P and Rebuilt/Upgraded (Cost)?

I've had no direct experience with the heads/cams on Roe's site. That combo should work fine although I don't know what your final power goals are..
Don't go too aggressive on the cam profile with a QC as they are heavy and burdened by the automatic transmission.
And don't forget to budget for machining and re-balancing..;)

600

I want at some point in life to get as close to the 600rwhp mark as possible. most likely arount the 550 mark. but it would be nice some day. It might be possible. RC deffinetly QC maybe not?

You will have to work harder to achieve that goal with a QC as the auto sucks up about 30 horsepower more than the RC manual transmission.

It isn't too tough but it does take the right combination.

A well ported o.e.m. head and cam package will give you around 90 wheel.

I'm at 577+ wheel with my combo right now with more on the way...

transmission

Is there any way to make the transmission more efficient?

i know striker heads are the best and there's a ton of threads regarding the difference in heads. how much of gain difference would there be between strikers vs fully P&P heads. is it really worth the additional 3-4k?

biggest and best builds on all viper motors use striker heads, plan on paying for them. chasing high hp numbers in a qc is tough and usually a pipe dream. thats why i dumped mine and bought a viper! then again that didnt cure much either

Sparks I am shooting for a similar goal and will soon be hitting the dyno... I will post my results....Heads/cam will be next on the list....

sweet. id appreciate it. what are you looking at doing? what type cam/heads?
