i went to the car wash today, and when i came out and hit the throttle hard it idles way up at like 1500rpm's... question is why did it do that, it seems to have gone away about 150 miles after the car wash. did something get wet?

A Car Wash is truck abuse, use only soft caressing hand washing...and no dish washing detergent please.

Water in the engine compartment can cause all kinds of wacky things.

You may have a sensor sticking...but if it is OK now drive on!

What is scary is when your handwashing your rig and your wife sprays water in your hood scoop. I was pulling out of my driveway and had no powersteering. F'ing belt wasnt squeeling but it sure was slipping.

Heavy/windy florida rainstorms cause the same scare when pulling out of parkinglots.

Carwash + open hood scoop = bad idea. Water in the engine compartment is a no no...That's why mine stays in when its raining:p

i abused the heck out of my truck, never had a problem with water going into the hood scoop.
becasue of the viper i never washed my 10, only car washes...the swirl marks were disgusting after a while...

umm well every time i wash my truck i wash the engine bay down to keep her looking clean! no problems yet and i wash it twice a week so you do the math!

TCS...I forgot the name of the...........TPS ? throttle position senseor...:dontknow: ...........dont like gittin wet.mine always does wacky shit if it gits wet. gittin to know the viper ram is ..bitchin.......... :D

still having the issue, maybe its was going on before the car wash but....

when i get on it hard it likes to hang out at 1500-1700 revs for a while, for a few minuets, if i stop, get out walk away, and come back in 5 min its back to normal. so what could be causing this?

TPS may be the problem...a solution for you is to not get on it hard...

i will look into replacement, the part, not the driver.

if i dont get on it hard what was the point of a 500hp truck? towing? i think not.

Mine just started doing the same thing.

How much is a TPS ??

40 or 50

Take a Windex bottle (or ??) and mist the area near the t.p.s. with water. If it revs up, you know what is causing the high idle before you buy one...
When they go bad, they can cost ya power as well...
Good idea to reset your e.c.u. if you put in a new T.P.S.
