Tens of millions homeless, even more unemployed and on the brink of being homeless. The stock market collapsing, leaving retirement funds worthless, hope the social security payments are enough, and that the government can continue to make them with no tax income. Banks failing, so I hope you have all you money in cash under your mattress. And speaking of cash, you best have a shitload, cause prices will go through the roof.
The US would lose it's standing in the world, as we would become dependent (or should I say more dependent) on loans and handouts. We would no longer have the cash to support our armed forces, how many guys are going to stay in and not get paid?
Panic in the streets, which these days usually leads to riots and looting. People be killed for a bag of groceries. And a real cutback in the numbers of law enforcement personnel to deal with the problems.
This is not the 1930's, the reaction of the masses would not be the same. A depression would do more harm to this country than every other disaster, whether natural or manmade, to date.
