Ain't no governor on these here trucks.

So why didnt dodge pull a better number in 04 when they went to smash the ford lightning??? Don't get me wrong 160 mph is fast as hell, I have done 130 so far and didnt seem to take long to get there from a 50 roll.

i believe its in all tremecs where you wont be able to pull in 6th because of the gearing with the 5/6 gear. you can change it like dom and be able to pull but even in the vipers you'll get more mph in 5th than 6th. with enough power you can go faster than 154 just all about money and the a place to do it.

I thought like 159.8 was stock for the 04's with the governor on??

I never tried to check top end on my truck when it was bone stock,So I have no idea what its capable of stock:dontknow: .I did get it to aprox.155 once before the Paxton went on,But it took forever compared to now!!:D

If you're looking to set an accurate top end record in one of these trucks, the dash speedometer is certainly NOT an accurate instrument for that purpose. Not even close.

:dito: I checked my speedo with a radar unit at work and it was fast by 8-10 MPH at 85. Didn't check any further than that.

Is your truck all stock with stock size tires??? :dontknow: The speedometer should be more accurate than that at 80mph.

I had mine checked on a dyno and it was accurate to 150,Thats as high as the dyno would register.

The record was set in perfect conditions by a race car driver in an 04 RC at 154 MPH. Anyone that states that they will do more is blowing smoke in my opinion. There are plenty on this site who claim 160+, I highly doubt it.

The record set is not the actual top speed the truck achieved it is the average speed it reached over 2 laps... or some shit like that...

during a high speed run most speedos are not very accurate,

the higher the speed the more the inaccuracy.

most of them above 80mph start getting inaccurate by 5 mph and it grows from there.

above 100mph you want believe it but you start gettting tire slippage. this is very evident on a motorcycle, at 160 on a bike you are actually only doing in the low 150's to high 140's

Well, my truck holds the east coast record for a stock big block truck for the standing mile at 147.88mph (it was set a Maxton NC). Mark (the previous owner who set the record) said that the truck hit 160 about 3/4 ways down the track but when he switched to 6th gear it knocked him back to 147.88 by the time he crossed the line, i guess he thought they would give him the full 160 for the record but they didnt...

Either way he beat the old record which was held by a 454SS chevy at 123mph.
