suppose to be? mine is 80 pounds...is that too heavy....?
jrgnd said:ok...I got off the phone with john from suncoast. their triple disc billet converter for the qc srt10 is between 70 to 80 pounds. so my 80 pound converter is not un-normal. they said its heavy due to billet metal. also they claim no performance lost....
thank you, thats what i have been saying/ thinking,Silverback said:Bullshit. It takes HP to spin that mass. Now that does help in the torque area, but that is one thing these engines are not short on.
no worries man, we just want your truck to be the best it possibly can, i would rather be over cautious to a fault, than to have to redo the tranny.jrgnd said:bud. like I told boomer. if we are talking about networks..I would argue until I turn blue. I don't know jack about trannies or engines for that matter...
just posting what they said...

now go eat some kangaroo burgers! (he is in Australia on business)![]()
now we are getting somewhere, ricardo and i had this exact converstion today. i have ordered vertors for bigblock chevys before and the engine made 1000hp, and the convertor weighed only like 50lbs at most.Nowwhat said:Suncoast is selling a bill of goods....
Reducing rotational mass is key to building your rpms quickly.....With a paxton you want to get into the boost as soon as possible and an 80lb 'verter is going to hinder that process
I called Suncoast for my converter and they said they could build me one in a few days with the components they have on the shelf....those are diesel components....
my converter was made specifically for the SRT 10 QC....

FSTJACK said:I have a Neal Chance Pro Mod bolt together converter.
Neal Chance makes some of the best race converters in the world.
Cut & paste from Chance web site.
Stage 3 Pro-Mod Torque Converter- This Is The Baddest, Strongest And The Fastest Converter In The World! This converter has NO horsepower or torque limits, along with 1 year warranty. If you can make the power, this converter will put it to the ground. This converter is recommended for 600 to 700 cubic inch nitrous motors, blown alcohol, centrifugal supercharged and turbo charged motors. With a minimum of 1700 hp. The more torque you make the better the Pro-Mod Torque Converter works. The Pro-Mod converter is available in both Weld Together, Bolt Together and Light Weight (6.5 lbs. lighter)
if it was me, i would send back what you have now, and get what Mike has. it works, he uses it for all its worth. we are building your truck to make more hp. an 80lb convertor is going to eat power, its simple physics there. i would at this point go big and do it right or dont do it at all!jrgnd said:boomer....you are the foster parent of my baby....your call...
