Hi Guys,

Simple but interesting question/poll. It's a time in every persons life that is right up there, getting your golden pass to the blacktop and along with it, big responsibilities. I'll never forget the day I got mine, felt like a whole new part of life opened up, I thought I was the bees knees lol! I've had my full for 10 years now (26). Not sure how it works in the US but down here you have 3 parts:

Learners License - (Written) Pass = You must drive with someone who has held their full for 2 years+.
Restricted - (Driving Test) After 3 months on a Learners you're eligible. Pass = You can now drive by yourself (No passengers).
Full - (Full Driving Test) 18 months after getting your Restricted - Usually 1 hour driving test. Pass = :D

I did a defensive driving course to cut my Restricted waiting period in half.
So, how long have you guys and gals held your full licence?

Cheers,
Carl

24 years now (I'm 40:eek: ).

Got my Commercial Drivers License ~13 years ago (Which equates to well over 1 million miles in a Big Truck alone:()

Got mine on my 16th BD 36 yrs ago....I learned to drive a stick shift when I was 11 yrs old....cant get enough driving a vehicle like my truck....back then you took a written test, passed an eye exam and got a 90 day learner permit. after 90 days and/or your 16th BD you took a road test with a State trooper and got your license.....

Didn't really think about it till now...next month will be 17 years...holly crap that sure does sound like a long time!

Over 30 for me. I drove 4 years prior w/o one as I learned to drive at 12.

Same here.. 12 was when I was learning how to drive my mother's Queen Family Truckster.. At that time she had a brown 70 something Oldsmobile Cutlass and a blue, 70 something long ass Chevy Caprice station wagon with wood paneling. If I could have driven those at such a young age I figured I could drive any passenger vehicle.

since 1974 - during the gas crunch when you could only fill up every other day depending on your license plate

That 70 something long ass Chevy Caprice station wagon with wood paneling was what I learned to drive in also.

I remember those gas lines and buying on even or odd days. Gas was .54 a gallon regular leaded gas (unleaded gas was unknown then). Damm now I feel really old :D :( :p  ;)
