Hey everyone. I just got my 10 2 weeks ago and it has 53.5k miles on it. It is bone stock. Is it too late to do anything to the engine without worrying about things breaking ie program, headers, exhaust, filter....? and what about FI? Just wanted some input so I know what direction to head when modding my 10. Thanks!:marchmellow:

Depending on the servcie record you should have no problem with bolt on mods....a few here are past or close to 100K without incident...if you FI plan on forging the bottom end...that would go for a new truck too..

mine has 84 k on the clock and i havent even changed the oil since i got it home...lol i havent been too nice to it either. but i am fixin to take the motor out so as long as i dont sling a rod out the side im ok.

it goes without saying...

if you don't go through the motor first (i.e.for FI) then you're basically building a timebomb....at least that seems to be the pattern around here....but IMO, that goes for any and everything...am i saying forged motors don't break, hell no, but it's the solid foundation you'll have to have to play that game...

regular bolt ons seem to benefit these trucks tremendously...my main caution would be the tunes...you NEED to get a tune from a reputable tuner, sean @roe and dan @dcperformance to start...if you decide to go that route...

also be careful as to how much you do without regards to the trans...seems they travel a fine line as well....

just some things to think of to start...

oh dig DEEEEP....and congrats on the new ride

Just keep up the regular tune ups and treat her nice sometimes and she will return the favor:burnout: :burnout: :burnout:

Bone Stock is a good way to buy them, that way there is little chance a previous Bone Head, had written a bad tune and already done some engine damage (while another owner had it).

FIRST: Do a leakdown test before modding, just to be safe.
If it is o.k., mod away!
If it is borderline: DO NOT USE FORCED INDUCTION without a rebuild; And weigh your options carefully here anyway.
If it is poor- maybe just leave it quite stock.

Good advice given above already...particularly: GET A TUNE FROM A REPUTABLE (EXPERIENCED) VENDOR !!!

Welcome- They are great trucks and a lot of fun!!
