I was looking at registration and i noticed it classified my truck as "commercial" and also listed the weight as 6,350 unladen/g/cgw ....
Does your registration list it at this weight or is this just mine? I know it doesnt weigh that much...Maybe thats why tags were so expensive?

they register it for it's gvw (gross vehicle weight) which means they reg it for what it can weigh with a full payload. technically if you only registered it only for what it weighs and you had a bike or something in the back they can write you a overweight fine.

It says on their book that they weigh 5,350 lbs which is why it is registered for 6,350 lbs

1/2 ton payload!
How much does CA charge for a full size truck registration now?

That really is BS, cause these trucks are not rated to carry a half ton!!!

You guys are getting robbed!!!!

California considers all pickups commercial vehicles.. it is a BS way to make money off weight fees. The way to get around it is if you have a camper shell on the truck it is no longer considered commercial and they drop the weight fees.. however you'll get fined if they ever catch you without the camper shell once you register it like that...
