Howdy from a new member

Welcome :D

Welcome Bud!

Definitely a cool project!!

If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase the truck from and how many miles were on it? I used to own a Black '04 and I wonder where it's at these days...

I read about all of the problems you are going through.

I saw your post about sending in the ECU to get the key fob deleted/security out of the system.

Before you send your computer off to BG think about having him also upgrade the computer for timing, fuel, headers, CAI, etc. Great bang for the buck.

PS- Welcome aboard. There are quite of few scholars here to help you out.

Hey wooooooooooooooooooooo Hooooooooooooooooooooooo a new guy     ...........................:toilet:

Welcome aboard

perhaps a stupid question from my side but isn't that the most expensive way to put 500 horses in your 70 charger  :dontknow: and also loosing that awsome V8 music ? :dontknow: Or are there reasons i do not know :dontknow:

but good luck with the project and have fun building it

hey, welcome! of course this is the most exciting forum, except for some waffel-head people! hahhaa

well Barry, for around $13k you can just drop a 426 Hemi crate engine... I would have followed that way, but a V10 is a real hot rod project.. maybe that's the reason. one of a kind of course! but you must keep the wing! hahah (I have 2 spares!)

Answers to questions

Thanks for the welcome folks! To answer some questions:

1) I paid around $8K for the truck - it had a little over 4,000 miles on it (yes, I got a steal). I still have a few parts to sell off - I'll list those in another section later. From what I have sold - I have a little over $5K into the truck including purchase price. :)
2) I was looking at a shifter upgrade - learned about the shift into 3rd problem from this site. X-metal is a leading contender.
3) I heard about the week clutch hydralics - any more info on this? Are we talking about the clutch master cylinder on the firewall or the slave/throw-out bearing? I have to replace the one on the firewall anyway.
4) The wing sort of survived. It has some scratches - and the tangs are bent where it attaches. I may try to fix it for resell at some point in time.
5) Only real useable interior parts are the seats which I plan to re-use. Door panels were gone when I got the truck.
6) The RED button is a must-have and will be installed.
7) I decided to keep the security/SKIM system - I've figured out how to make that work.
8) The $ does, initially, sound like a dumb way to add 500 horses. But when you add it all up I come out about $15K ahead in the game ($5K for the V10/6spd vs. $13K for Crate motor + $5K for 5spd + $3-4K for accessories). If I went with a crate motor - I still need the manual transmission, accessories, headers, etc. which adds up fast. The v10/6spd "coolness" is a strong plus. Finally, after owning mopars for 25+ years I am tired of the hassles with messing with the carb/etc. Going electronic/fuel injection/computer managed will make the driving experience of the car MUCH better - and that's what it's all about. If my Charger had the original matching #'s drive train then I would not have done this.

awesome build going on. i think you made a wise choice. ive got 10 grand in a 500 hp small block in my challenger. keep us updated.

Contact JMB Justin or Boomer or Roe Racing, they all sell the viper master/slave you need. Its the entire setup that you need. The kit needs to come with two shims to make it work properly. I believe they all sell it with the shims.........just letting you know.

Contact Stingray for the production number for that 04. Then we can log it as wrecked and reborn again as a Viper Charger!!! NICE!!!

Stingray says it's #2977/3057 built 7/8/2004. I hauled off the crushed body and twisted frame to salvage Saturday and saw it shredded. She's gone :( But another lives on! Feel free to list it as destroyed.
