taking a ride in the srt i pulled out onto the highway straighten the beast out and punched it from a 15mph role. the tires lit up and powershifted second same results then to 6th to start my journey to the local sonic. :marchmellow: keep in mind all was done to the speed limit not over. Im driving now for 2miles and a trooper comes lights blazing so i pull over into a stop in go. I figure ahh another ticket. I start rolling down my window and i notice he goes for the handle (doors locked) so i open the door i get let me get my insurance out of my wallet and he grabs my arm pulls out of the truck spins me around and slaps the chains on me. Your under arrest for wreckless driving. i had nothing to say i was in shock. wife was left crying and no clue how to get home. whats your thoughts?

that is crazy, ha, would have been something to see but i can see a ticket but getting arrested thats a little excessive

Did he impound it? Why didn't she drive it home?

I think it sucks that he arrested you, a ticket would have been more appropriate, especially if you were within the speed limit as you say. Maybe the judge will be more reasonable ???

Probable came on here to ask a simple question and got pummeled...

He's now getting even

Sorry to hear that. Cops are really starting to crack down on reckless driving all over the United States. In FL if they catch you street racing they take you to jail and confiscate your vehicle then auction it off. :(

From just your side of it I would say the Trooper was plain out wrong.

To start with, reckless driving(no W,BTW) means driving in a manner which

displays a total disregard for the safety of others.

It might cost some money, but you should lawyer shop and fight the hell out

of this.   :( :( :(

Honestly, cops are getting out of control almost everywhere - what gives with them anyways?

Anytime you break your tires loose with power, you fall into the "reckless driving, exhibition of speed, street racing" category.... This is all the real "hard on" types need as an excuse to exert their personalities....

You did the wrong thing at the wrong time in front of the wrong asshole cop.

Universes collided........ Lawyer up for sure.. ... It'll be worth every dollar...

That cop is more famous among his policeman peers than anywhere else.... They all know (that) his ass is so tight, he couldn't getta greased BB up his butt....

You'll get through it....

BTW most cops love hot rods and would NOT have been so hard on ya'....

I would'a given you a chiding and complimented you on yer ride.....

Good observation, When I started the philosophy was that you treat people with courtesy and respect unless forced by someones actions to act otherwise and arresting a person was a last resort.

The robot, Ahole, lets see how many I can lock up today attitude is why many of my generation were glad to get out.

The only reason I can think of as to why is that they used to hire men with certain qualities for a reason.

the wife could not drive it because she has not yet mastered the standard yet. I dont understand the whole deal i didnt argue put up a fight anything. it happened so fast i couldnt do anything. just sit and smile at the situation. As I was watching my wife cry through the window of the cop car he gets in plays on the radio for a little and then tries to start up a conversation about how he once had a fast car that he loved to drive. i said nothing i didnt want what i said record and used against me.

I honestly think he arrested me because he was pissed that he no longer had a car that fast. i hope he gets a m&m stuck in his heart valve.

My uncle served with the LAPD for many, many years. He was also the Chief of Police of Hurricane Utah for another many years. He must have been from the same school of thought because as far as I know, he treated people with dignity and respect. If someone did not earn that dignity and respect from him, then of course he would be forced to act accordingly. I respected him and was proud him, the police and what they stood for. I felt safe when he was around.

I don't know what gives with most of today's generation of authority figures. Maybe it's their age, maybe it's something I don't see, but it seems like they are being trained towards ROBO cop mentality and quite frankly most of the officers are down right rude and "above the law" if you will.

The one thing I have noticed is most of the ones I make reference to here are of the younger generation. The few older veteran officer's I've run in to still seem to still smile, show the citizen a little respect and an eagerness to protect and serve.

The younger ones are rude and cocky and it makes me angry that they treat people the way they do. Maybe it goes with the territory since most of the younger generation, in my opinion, has lost the meaning of respect. They seem to be all about "me" and don't give a ratzzz azzz about anyone else, and this seems to include the authority figures.

RANT over for now

The Texas code for reckless driving is 545.401, and based on your side of the

story, a lawyer would eat them alive in court.

sorry to hear about that, and.. of course is a good warning for me going to drive in US.

Have your lawyer beat his ass!

most of the times they are envious about our rides, then if he's a "wanker" (sorry for British word, can't find an American one) and notice your chick sitting on the passenger seat, you are done.

Ex Harris County (Houston to the rest of you) cop here..

To begin with I am sorry this had to happen to you and your wife. That prick was a state Trooper. Their primary function in Harris County is highway patrol and accident investigation. They are the absolute wrong ones to do anything questionable in front of. I was stopped a couple times by them years ago (all while I was in uniform) and on one occasion I was even issued a citation because I was in my personal vehicle. The badge didn’t matter to this bitch. Although I beat it with a phone call it really sucked. She sucked. No professional courtesy.

Anyway, what you did was not reckless driving. You committed exhibition of acceleration, which really isn't so bad. You weren’t in a residential area right? He probably was more offended that it happened in his presence than anything else. So he had to flex is muscles and make an example of you to show his authority. He could have even been jealous judging by his ice-breaker conversation (that is, if it wasn’t a cheap shot attempt to use your words to trap you).

I don't want to give you the impression that I thought you were wrong. Heck I would have lit them tires up too. But these days we must be mindful of our surroundings at all times before playing. Harris County alone has over 70 different police agencies with all of the 8 precincts, HPD, Metro, SD, all the I.S.Ds, campus polices, Bellaire, Humble, Jersey Village, etc.. Any one of them will have a few tight asses working among them.

Personally I think his reaction was excessive for the matter at hand. Pulling you out, putting you in the back of the patrol car, running you, then giving you a good lecture before sending you and your wife on your way would have been as far as I would go with it IF I were in a bad mood. This should have been especially since you were quiet and didn’t mouth off. What my method of handling this would have achieved was shake you up enough to behave the rest of the week and probably make you like cops a bit more. But I was never in that much of a bad mood so with me (provided you were polite and acknowledged what you did) you would have got off with a warning and a :top:‘thumbs up.’

Like super said hire an attorney for this. If the Trooper classified this as reckless driving then according to the current Texas Penal Code you should emerge smelling like a rose. Where were you taken? Where did the alleged offense occur?

Get a good lawyer...you were in the wrong...in more ways than one.

The officer over-reacted, but you need to be accountable...demonstrations of this nature need to be done on private property...without your wife in the truck.

It was your bad luck that you were observed. But you wanted to turn heads, and accomplished that. Spend what you have to for a lawyer...because if he/she beats the charge, your savings in insurance alone will justify the expense.

Man up...you did it, it is illegal...you just did it in front of the wrong man. You did nothing more than all of us have done, but been luckier than you.

Heheheheheh...I've been there before. Except I went over the speed limit. Shame on me...good luck with your law suit.:D

probably jealous because he cant afford one on trooper salary:D man law enforcement is underpaid.
