I was very reluctant to post my results after i did the IAT mod last night, as naysayers here are hard to convince. But, here goes

I installed a 10k ohm 1/4 watt resistor on the blue/green wire going to the Intake Air Temperature sensor. This was only hours before Sean Roe told me to go with the 5.6k. The install took 5 minutes and i soldered and heat shrinked it to look stock. After the install i took the truck for a spin.
I drove 68 miles through downtown, flooring it from light to light and a couple pulls to a 100 on the highway. The truck, honest to God, feels hundreds of pounds lighter. The mid rpm, part throttle to full throttle jaunts are much more jumpy and it responds quicker. When warm i noticed a change in my idle (as my truck is practically straight pipe) i could hear a slightly noticable deeper mellow note even though the rpm remained unchanged. Maybe im crazy but the wife noticed it too. Furthermore my wife noticed less popping as this always drives her crazy. :dontknow:

Im religous about resetting my overhead computer after every weeks fill up for the past 8 months. I ALWAYS average 10.7 on cheep aafes gas and 10.9 on cheveron CONSISTANTLY. 68 miles later, romping on this thing like i just drove it home from the dealer I was getting 13.8. This morning i started it and have driven another 25 miles or so on my same saily commute and im increasing at 13.9. Maybe its a fluke, a placebo, maybe im crazy, but for 99 cent, fool me or not, ive never spent better money since i bought stinkers drop kit. (with bigger u bolts of course) Rock on Tony!

You cant go wrong with this mod... although i suggest for most to go with the 5.6k as Sean Roe knows alot more than I. For now ill play around with my 10, no pun intended.:burnout:

Are these realistic gains ---anybody else that has done this please chime in and let us know your results....

Gents for .99 cents and ten minutes...

A gift from Sean Roe to VTCOA...

Now go to his web site and pay him back!

Another 38 miles have past and im at 13.7mpg :dontknow: Last night i let my best friend drive, whome i let drive every weekend, with myself shotgun of course. He noticed the umph without me mentioning i did anything too it. He says "My God i love this truck, every time i drive it, it seems more powerful" I dont know what else i can say? But sean roe :congrats: i owe you one good buddy!

For those of us (cough, cough,,,, ME!) who are not as mechanically inclined as others,,, could you maybe post a couple of pictures of the 10k ohm 1/4 watt resistor on the blue/green wire going to the Intake Air Temperature sensor...

Does this mod work with a Stage 2 flash or the SCT tuner ?

I have heard that it won't,but would like others input.

there is another thread like this going ,,,if you have a sct or flashed pcm it is already done there will be no benifit ,,if you have a stock pcm it will help

That's what I thought

so basically you are tricking the computer to "think" it is at a certain temp. below 50 degrees F I would assume, so it will advance timing. so there will be no consequences of detonation with this modification in high temps?

i dont have it on my ten but i had one on my 06 hemi that my son still drives 42000 on it and i put this mod on it two days after i had it ..but i have a sct stage two on the beast, the hemi is stock but with headers exhaust and intake ,and so the guys at b&g told me i could put it on but there is no benifit in it ..but it would be nice to see someones dyno on it :burnout:

u got it because if i was told right this enriches the mix more , but i think the one i put on my sons hemi was the 10k or something like that and it suppost to differ temp reading by 30 degrees or so, if it is 95 out it will register on pcm as 65 degrees air coming in throttle body air inlet .the lower the resistants the less temp diff ,,,if you put the 5.6k it was like 15 degress lower

:burnout:

Well im sorry to inform, this weekend i popped p0420 cat inefficiency code. Its been a few weeks since my mid install. Im hoping resistor didnt screw my a/f ratios enough to throw this. Looks like an sct is on the way to fix it.

Also it should be noted, after i reset my computer to fix the light the first time, I topped the gas off the same night, same gas station, and reset the idiot computer up top like always.

230 miles since sensor install my computer read 13.8 mpg, and my own calculation confirmed it. After the reset, and refuel ive been 42 miles on the same route and am back down to 11.8

SO i seams the increase in gas milage was a fluke. :dontknow: At least to a degree... Im still doing a little better! 10% Sorry to stir a ruckus...

So i just bought the 5.6k and some shrink tube. I have a solder gun too. i just cut the blue wire with the green stripe and solder in one of the resistors? and then i can put the shrink tube over the resistor and shrink it down on it? Im sorry for the lame question, I'm just very new to engine mods and want to make sure i do this correctly. Thanks!
