Ineteresting, the Smart Car president remarks that the tests conducted were a simulation of a rare and extreme scenario. Really? I have driven in quite a few States and metro areas and I can say 70/80 is common place as far as speed is concerned. IMO rare and extreme isn't an accurate portrayal as it relates to the context of the comments made by the SmartCar President.

I have an 08 yaris. 40mpg and made out of plastic and tinfoil. I hit a deer going 50mph and did 4k worth of damage. Car was undrivable.
I hit a deer in my 97 ford ranger 4x4 and did not even stop untill I got to work. Busted the plastic spoiler under bumper and broke the driving lights out.

I bought the car when gas was $5 a gallon (remember that?) and I have 100 miles round trip to work.
