Pay no attention to some of the others Pirate..you have been thru pure $shit over the motor...not only monetary but a black mark on something you cherished. Hope this turns out favorable to all involved..
 
Well guys, I said it before, and I will say it again. He has suffered a considerable monitary loss. Cut him some slack.

Even if Sean picks up the bill or part of it, it's still a real pain in the ass that no one would want to go through.

OK, I just spent a 1/2 hour that I'll never get back cleaning up this thread. Do me a favor and stay on topic, it is a pretty important one for a lot of people.
 
I've never dealt with my insurance company about a liability claim before, but did call them yesterday to ask about it.
They told me to write down everything I could about the incident, how the part failed, the inspection report, repair costs and then send it to them so they could alert the carrier. I told them it just happened last week, but I would tell them everything I could.

Here's what I've written as a detail of events. Mark, please let me know if I missed anything before I send this to them.


Customer: Mark SXXXX
Vehicle: 2006 Dodge Ram SRT-10
The customer purchased a Supercharger and Water / Methanol Injection system from us on October 30, 2007
On the afternoon of December 5th, we received a call from Mr. SXXXX saying that his truck had white smoke coming from the exhaust after a run on the highway of 140 MPH. Additionally, there was a check engine light and excessive water coming from his air filter. I advised Mr. SXXXX to check the source of the check engine light and look everything over to see why the air filter had excessive water before proceeding. He informed me that he had already erased the code and had no way to retrieve it. I had speculated that a vacuum hose had perhaps come off as the Water / Methanol system is controlled relative to manifold pressure and a vacuum leak would cause a check engine light. He was to contact me after looking everything over.
The next morning, I received a call from Mr. SXXXX saying that he and a friend had taken the truck out later that day. He informed me that during the drive, a major mechanical failure occurred in the engine and there was now a hole in the engine block.
Mr. SXXXX’s claim is that the system that actuates the Water / Methanol is faulty and is causing the pump to come on excessively, resulting in a hydro lock in the engine. I have not seen Mr. SXXXX’s truck or any of the parts to confirm or deny his claim. He advised us that he will not release the Water / Methanol system controller for testing. I contacted the manufacturer of the Water / Mathanol system controller and they advised me they can do nothing to assist in the situation without testing the controller.
We have never been in this situation before. Please advise on how we should proceed for proper insurance purposes.


Anybody in the insurance business around here? Any input? I'm starting with just the facts. If I need to leave some out, so be it.
I'd like to word this properly so that the insurance payments I make can actually be put to some good. I'm going to do whatever I can to help Mark out with this. I HOPE the insurance will be able to help us out.

Just to be clear to everyone, even if the insurance company denies the claim, I will still help out Mark and have told him so.
We discussed attorneys and associated costs yesterday.
Basically, if he pursues legal action, it would cost me a few thousand dollars right up front.
Why not try to help him out with those kinds of funds, instead of lining the pockets of lawyers.
We would both loose even more if we went that direction.
Trying for insurance assistance is the first best route.
Going though attorneys would be the last and worst route.

sean , thats close but to be totally accurate, I PAID FOR THE SYSTEM ON OCT 30th , but it was not delivered and installed until about 3 days before thanksgiving.And the truck ran up to about 115, I didnt see any smoke, it just started skipping, when we stopped, we saw meth pouring out of the filter. idling in the yard, is when the yellow engine light came on.IO tried to retrieve the code the same way i have done on other trucks, by turning the key on and off several times but nothing came up after several attempts.when i called you sean, you had me check the vacumn hose while you were on the phone,we discussed drying what we could out, and letting it sit for a few hours. you told me that it was hard to believe that much could have went into the motor.and i called you when we tried the system on woodys truck. but any way, you said to let you know about writing your claim, by the way sean, i pulled the engine out this afternoon, i will take it down in the morning. anyone know what scrap aluminum is going for?

Sean said the supercharger could be run without the meth and that the supercharger had nothing to do with what happened which is true. I just have cold feet after this experience, opinions please.

Now this is just an idea for you to think about.

I ran methanol injection on one car I had that ran up to 40 pounds of boost at times. I had an adjustable pressure sensor in the intake manifold that triggered the pump motor to inject the methanol that was set to 10 PSI. Very simple and it never failed.

Sometimes simplier is better.

I would keep the SC....like Roe said the meth is an option...helps but not a big deal........or you might consider Silvers idea...while simpler it is still mechanical and subject to failure.:dontknow:
 
My meth and NOs system have a "foul" light if they fail to opererate within parameters the light blinks....

I have a "light" on my pillar that illuminates when the meth pump activates...I might add a beeper or buzzer just to make sure it gets my attention..
