The National Guard is different than Army Reserves. However, both fall under the United States Army.

The main difference (simplified) is that the Reserves generally fall under the direct command and control of mother army and the National Guard generally falls under the command and control of the State.

There are some exceptions though. Special Forces for example....all part time units are now National Guard (no more Army Reserve SF units). They fall under the state for administrative purposes but their missions and funding (in certain areas) are controlled by active duty Special Forces Command. I could explain further but I'd probably bore every one to death. :D

That's just an Urban Legend....he was sick before that. However, he did get worse afterwards. ;)
 
Started in the Virginia Army Nat.Guard which had just went to Light Infantry then volunteered for active duty with Regular Army for Desert Shield which became Desert Storm .
11C Indirect Fire Infantry (Mortars) and 11B Regular Infantry
also did a little time with a Mechanized Infantry unit :mad:



Took some Ranger training and Special Forces Operations Course :rock:
never got to attend the complete SF course because my commander wouldn't approve my application:mad:

Wanted to be Rambo :D
 
1987 US Army Fort Benning GA 11b got sent to Airborne school .... Honourable discharge I still hurt to this day lol

Which mortars? 60's or 81's?
