Insomnia

Patrick,

Aerobic exercise will take care of this problem. I know you spend time in the gym, but do you run, cycle or anything aerobic?

I have to do this almost daily to stave off the restlessness. Be carefull not to over do it because overtraining will also make you restless!!

Good luck Brah!!

The 40-year Old Virgin Method...

Take 2 Tylenol PM and try to rub one out before you fall asleep...either way you win!

Having done shift work in the past I can feel you pain, melatonin worked great for me as well...

appaerntly you guys have not gotten head from someone who kows what they are doing, you would know there is no way you could stay awake afterwards

What's really apparent is that you make grossly unfounded assumptions.

From the late 50's to the mid 80's I was a professional rock'n'roll musician.... I was the up-front man.... The object of all the female attention.... and the recipient of a an expansive ocean of major league head-jobs.... night after night after night...or anytime of the day for that matter...

Is this important or enlightening in the grand scheme of the Cosmos.... Hell, no... Spiritually, it don't mean shit.... It simply is what it is...

All I'm saying is that contrary to your erroneous presumption, I've had so much implosive two fisted, high voltage head that I still have the stress fractures in my skull to prove it...OK? So don't presume to know what I've had or have not had..... OK, sonny...? :argh:

I have guitars and leftover drumsticks with more sexual road rash than you.

Kids................. Lordy

You could use a few hits of really strong acid to snap you into focus.;)

....and learn how to spell, will ya....?

Lots of good ideas there.............and some not so good ones!! LOL

I tried taking two benedryl last night. Made me very tired but could not sleep at all. About 5.30 am ish I finally dosed off till 9.30. :argh: Ambiam works but I am trying to find something else. I will get some melatonin.

Like Marc said I do pump the weights but have added cardio recently to help out the blood pressure and the stress.

Turtle you are correct. I need to find and eliminate the underlying problem. I know the problem and am trying to settle it. My business partners are the problem. If they dont wake up I am gonna be forced to walk away from the business I helped create over the last 20 years.

Thanks Tim, just read the thread. I am a light sleeper and have had nothing but good rest with the ambiem. I would rather not take it but.... I try to sleep everynight without it. Again last night I laid there forever and could not fall asleep. So I give up and take the pill. I was dog tired too. Did an hour of cardio, dug a huge hole and planted a tree, all kinds of physical activity yet my mind still races........ I am gonna start researching meditation techniques.

In my younger days, nothing put me to sleep better than rolling up a big fat one. I am not condoning anything illegal, but I bet it would help.

It's amazing what the body does under stress!!! I've even been dealing with hives for the last two weeks on top of the months of sleepness - all due to stress. I'm sorry to hear your pain and wish there was something I could do or say to make it all better - but unfortunately only you have to live with the decisions on how you are going to deal with it.

I truly hope that does not sound harsh, because that is not the way it's intended. I only wish you find some release to all your angst.

I have the shingles again, because of stress. (But I am sleeping well!:))

Patrick, try the Melatonin, it really helps quiet the mind.

Geez, ntw0rk, sorry to hear this. I have a close friend in my business who just got over a very painful case of the shingles (absolutely stress related). The only upside, he was sharing his vicodin.:marchmellow:

Hey Ntw0rk,

I know your still young...hehe

But some general info that may help later in life

Patient Information about
ZOSTAVAX
® (pronounced “ZOS tah vax”)
Generic name: Zoster Vaccine Live

You should read this summary of information about ZOSTAVAX
1 before you are vaccinated. If you have
any questions about ZOSTAVAX after reading this leaflet, you should ask your health care provider. This
information does not take the place of talking about ZOSTAVAX with your doctor, nurse, or other health
care provider. Only your health care provider can decide if ZOSTAVAX is right for you.

What is ZOSTAVAX and how does it work?
ZOSTAVAX is a vaccine that is used for adults 60 years of age or older to prevent shingles (also known
as zoster).
ZOSTAVAX contains a weakened chickenpox virus (varicella-zoster virus).
ZOSTAVAX works by helping your immune system protect you from getting shingles. If you do get
shingles even though you have been vaccinated, ZOSTAVAX may help prevent the nerve pain that can
follow shingles in some people.
ZOSTAVAX may not protect everyone who gets the vaccine. ZOSTAVAX cannot be used to treat
shingles once you have it.
What do I need to know about shingles and the virus that causes it?
Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox. Once you have had chickenpox, the virus
can stay in your nervous system for many years. For reasons that are not fully understood, the virus may
become active again and give you shingles. Age and problems with the immune system may increase
your chances of getting shingles.
Shingles is a rash that is usually on one side of the body. The rash begins as a cluster of small red spots
that often blister. The rash can be painful. Shingles rashes usually last up to 30 days and, for most
people, the pain associated with the rash lessens as it heals.
Who should not get ZOSTAVAX?
You should not get ZOSTAVAX if you:
•
are allergic to any of its ingredients.

•
are allergic to gelatin or neomycin.

•
have a weakened immune system (for example, an immune deficiency, leukemia, lymphoma, or
HIV/AIDS).

•
take high doses of steroids by injection or by mouth.

•
are pregnant or plan to get pregnant.
You should not get ZOSTAVAX to prevent chickenpox.
Children should not get ZOSTAVAX.

How is ZOSTAVAX given?
ZOSTAVAX is given as a single dose by injection under the skin.

•
have any allergies, including allergies to neomycin or gelatin.

•
had an allergic reaction to another vaccine.

•
are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

•
are breast-feeding.
Tell your health care provider if you expect to be in close contact (including household contact) with
newborn infants, someone who may be pregnant and has not had chickenpox or been vaccinated against
chickenpox, or someone who has problems with their immune system. Your health care provider can tell
you what situations you may need to avoid.

What are the possible side effects of ZOSTAVAX?
The most common side effects that people in the clinical studies reported after receiving the vaccine
include:

No, I am not 60 yet. I don't even like to drive 60!;)

But, I can ask my Dr. about it.

My mother suffers from the crap too, this might be good for her. Although I don't know how her MS would react to it.
