Guys,

Lowered my truck today, but not to happy with how the rear drop came out. I would have liked it to be a bit lower. My bubby told me that the stocks were better than the shocks that came with the "kit" so I didn't install them. Now for my questions:

Will the shocks that came with the kit lower my rear? I've seen ViperTruck2933 and love the way his truck looks with that drop, but mine has more real wheel gap than his. Is it because I didn't change out the stock shocks?

Confused

Oh by the way also installed HID's:D :D :D

I don't think changing the shocks would make a difference in the ride height. But would prevent bottoming out and would enhance handling.

I think it will probably settle in a little bit lower with some time and mileage.;)

Ive compared my truck to Tims (vipertruck2933) in person and his sits lower in the back with the same blocks. Im not sure why, maybe his has settled more, or maybe the 04's are a hair lower, who knows?!

This subject drives me nutz !!!I had another brand drop kit installed on my QC and the front end basically rode on the bumpstops. So I was considering doing what I should have from the beginning, and gone with the X-Metal 2/4 drop kit !!Then I read on another post where there is bump steer ???:dontknow: Can anyone enlighten me ??? I love the looks of the truck dropped, but I'd like to keep as much of the ride quality as I can !!!HELP !!!

The shocks will not change the ride height. They only help to control the suspension movement.

I can't answer your ride height problem though. Try measuring the rear block height. They should be 2 inches tall.

I forget whom posted it but during the install they said they pushed down on the bed before they tightened the ?? bolts/nuts. Sorry I forgot the details. I just measured the gap between my back wheels and truck. Looks to be about 3.5 to 3.75 inches. Sorry buts its dark in garage at night. I do not have the x metal shocks. They were not a part of the package when he originally sold them.

It depends on the front springs as to whether or not you will run on the bump stops, you can only go so far and then hit the fender well.

As far as the rear with a 2 inch block, you will have some rake in the front, in other words the rear will set higher.

Like stingray said the shocks do nothing for hiegth at all, but with more than 2 inch block they will bottom out.

you willprobably need a 2 1/2 inch block to make you happy.

The X-Metal shackles for the QC are adjustable. Are they not the same way for the RC?

Maybe mine was just installed by the best mechanic, lol. (Me!)

The RC's dont come with shackles because we already have the leafs flipped.;)

our shocks are vastly better than stock. the stock bilsteins are just a name, not like one would think a perfromance shock would be. you can see the difference in rebound control, just by compressing your stock shock and then ours, and look at how quickly the stock shock rebounds. our shocks are nitrogen charged and the valving spec is what works with the Biggest SRT. you will noticed improved control and better ride using our shocks with the kit, plus the stroke length is correct on our shocks for the lowered stance.
our blocks are 2.3" tall.
when installing a kit, loosen the rear shackles after the rear part of the kit is installed. then drop the tail gate and bounce the rear end to settle it at ride height. then re-tighten the shackles, but dont over do it, and i reccomend antiseize on the shackle pivot bolts.

6pck, our kit is engineered for ride and handling FIRST- the lowered look is a benefit, not the primary reason for the kits intended purpose.

Boomer do you sell the shocks seperate from the drop kit? I am thinking about upgrading to your shocks.

TIA patrick
yep, sealed nitrogen units or billet adjustables

Can you give me the cost of sealed nitrogen ones.........as I am assumimg these are the ones that come with your drop/handleing kit. Billet ones are for hardcore racers like Mike's Supertank?

HEY LIGHTEMUP, use boomers shocks i have them and i have noooo problems ,it rides a little better than stock,

Thanks Boomer for the answering my questions.

I will switch out the shocks on Monday and the U bots on the rear blocks bounce up and down a couple of times and tighten them back up. Then I will take some pictures of the drop and the blacked out tail ligts I painted myself.

I am going to try that.It handles GREAT !!!!!!!!!

lite.....i agree that boomers shocks are a farr better ride than the stockers. I'll have to try that trick about loosening up the u bolts cause I'd like mine a little lower in the rear too. I'd just like to get rid of the rake and make it about even w/ the front drop which is perfect. boomer said dropping the rear more will result in not enough travel though.

ATTENTION!!! - Boomer did NOT say to loosen the U-Bolts! He said loosen the Shackles. :D (BIG difference!)

You don't want to loosen the U-Bolts on the blocks/spring pack/axle, then jump around on your truck... TRUST ME. ;)

The shackles are the brackets on each end of your leaf-springs that attach to the frame. ;)

Thats good.....cause I was thinking the u bolts were different but had no idea what the shackles were.
