Installation of door handles?

Who has done this themselves? If so, how difficult is it?

These trucks _really_ need painted door handles... at least that's my plugged nickel's worth.

Not very difficult to do. Takes about 30-45 min per door.

Is there a DIY thread here on how to do this? I don't want to screw something up with an improper removal procedure.

Stop by your local autozone and pull the Haynes repair manual part number 30042 for 02-05 dodge ram full size trucks. Ive been wrong before but i believe there is a picture and instructions on the replacement.

I think I can gt the covers, or the billet ones I think

but to paint the door handles

take some duck tape , tape off the handle, get sum of that there krylon paint from walmart, spray two coats, let dry, done

10-4 3M double stick body tape. Have had mine on a long time with no problems. Accents the polished wheels and badges.

didnt check on the gate, but thats the two doors with no lock on passenger

I need pics of the billet ones... and would need 4 + tailgate. I honestly don't see how it works just being "stuck" on there... but obviously it does if SlvrSRT says so.

the ones Big Dave has are covers, on the back of them they have 3m tape and fix themselves onthe existing handle , I am sure Dave can tell ya more
but now the billet ones are a solid billet handle, let me look on them some more bo, and check on all four and the tail gate, but if its ok I gotta check out a bit

They stick/clip on. Like said, many miles, many washes, still look great and are as tight as the day I installed them.

If I'm going to replace the handles, then I'll go with the painted ones like JMB has... no offense, that's just my preference. I like the monochromatic look.

However, the chrome 3M ones are a good option it looks like, especially on silver. Anything beats these OEM black ones, IMHO.

I've got some friends at a local bodyshop and I may see how much they'd charge me to install new handles, but if its too much, these ones that Silvr has may be the ticket for me.

Cover is due to arrive next Tuesday. I'll let you know how it works out. May take a little modification around the wing, but we'll see.

Your buddy should be able to handle painting your handles on the cheap. A little prep & paint and your good to go. I wanted the contrast of the polished handles to accent the wheels and badges like I said before. Good luck with the project.
