I finally got my flashed PCM back and installed it along with the 170 stat.
It is flashed for a k&n drop in and borla cat back exhaust,93 octane.

For starters there is a difference in the mid to top end power but from a stop there is not much change.Ever since i bought the truck (05 QC) it would only spin the tires for about 5-10 ft then take off which is a good thing but with the new PCM I expected to have to ease into the throttle to leave without going up in smoke.

It can be done with a little brake of course but I expected more with the torque management disabled.

Also there is a little spark knock when passing at about half throttle.
Can't say about WOT because of all the other sound.

Is that something to worry about.

I didn't Notice any spark Knock yet. But Dude Mix torco and you should get about 94 or 95 when Mixed with 91 and 15 gallons. Your right there is still no kickdown effect with the new Pcm even with Tc disabled. But your right the Motha F Screams Between 2500 and 5000. Drive It like a stick. Remember our trucks weigh 5600 Lbs.

You Can tell Dan At Dc To get the most out of the Pcm. He set my tune for 100 Octane and he said 80 Hp and 90Ftlbs. Realistically Maybe 50 Hp.

I GOT MY PCM FROM BOOMER.THAT MOTHA WILL ROAST THE TIRES OFF IF I WANT IT TO.NOT SURE WHY YOURS IS LIKE THAT.MAY HAVE BEEN PROGRAMED A LITTLE DIFF.MIGHT HAVE TO ADJUST THE TIMING BACK A LITTLE FOR THE KNOCKING ISSUE.GIVE THEM A CALL,MIGHT HAVE TO SEND BACK FOR A LITTLE ADJUSTMENT.

I would send it back in. I tink sometimes there is misscommunication at dc. because I told the guy when I ordered mine to turn the sensors off for my cats. but that was not done. to bad that we have to send our pcm off to get tuned. because each truck is different. Wish I lived next to a good tuner that can tune my truck....but There is not any body in panama city that will work on my truck. or may I say that I trust to work on it

Get a VEC3 and drive it down to Roe in JAX.

racing fuel

Thanks for the replies.

I heard of a citgo station that has racing fuel near me ,not sure of the octane but I am going to try a tank of their 93 and if the knock is still there start adding a few gallons of the other till it stops or the price goes over 100 a tankful. Was told it costs 7 something a gallon!

If it wasn't for my ext warr till 2010 the cats would be gone already.
I'm afraid the service dept would see that the mids had been recently re-installed if a problem came up.

Fursale Use a 32ounce can of Torco and that should take care of it. Its only like 15-16 dollars a can for 32's. I get 100 octane here at the pump for 5.00 a gallon. There is also 110 leaded for Cars without Cats.

quick question ... i just ordered this dc stage 2 , and in california we only have 91 at the pumps . if he flashes for 93 or 95 octane and i run 91 is there going to be more knock , detonation ? Or is the oing to make more power ?

They can tune it for 91, if you can't get 93, don't go there...IMHO.

Yo sol sir don't be to overwhelmed. It will be fine. I have the Aggresive program on my flash. Add the Torco it really works. Plus You will only have the Knocking on WOT. Or you can add 5 to 6 gallons of 100 and the rest with 91 and that should give you 94 0r 95.

If you can hearing knocking at W.O.T. over the intake noise of these engines I would be VERY concerned about your tune and/or lack of octane.

Ring lands are among the first to go when an engine is under detonation which could explain the "loose" rings some folks are finding and would certainly explain oil consumption..

Some preignition isn't really great but past that point, ANY detonation esp. at W.O.T. is VERY BAD.

that torco really works....but you need to de-tune all the same and get rid of the knock....btw...if you do add a few gallons of high octance..the tires will blow off....

A stage 2 flash is just a term used for a more agressive "flash". They (stage 2) are done for both 91 or 93 octane fuel depending on where you live and the octane of available fuel.

What Nowwhat said is true except for the tires part, it takes lots of HP to blow the tires off......
He has been seen laying on his side, next to his truck kicking the tires violently. .....
I guess trying to blow them off.....

Citgo fuel is not the best in my opinion. Years ago I had a new Ford Aerostar Van as a shop truck. The 3.0 motor would run on any kind of fuel without pinging. I was in the Carburetor & Fuel Injection business so was very aware of the charachteristics of different brands of fuel in my area.

I was low on fuel and had no choice but to stop and fuel with Citgo. It pinged like crazy, I had to add a octane booster it was so bad. Citgo was the only fuel that pinged in that truck, ever.

gas tankers

I have been using shell 93 with little pinging.
When i was a kid I worked at a shell station nights and about 3 days a week a truck with no name would pull in and unload.
During the day shift they were all shell tankers,so who really knows what we are getting?

I have seen this at the shell I buy from more than a few times when driving by at night.
