any tips or hints?? it dosen't look too bad, but then againf neither did the headers, and the intake gasket are reusable on these right?

It's not too bad as long as you have a good selection of tools;)

ok, guess i'll start tonight and then get back at in it the morning, broke every single plug wire on the drivers side doing the headers, oh well i'm gonna put msd's on it now, and some of that spark plug antiseiz stuff

I just removed mine...the second to last bolt on the drivers side up against the fire wall was the toughest for me.(i finally got it with a extension and a torx bit,i hammered it in because it kept slipping )tape your sockets and torx bits to the extension..,i dropped a couple under the intake and had to go buy another. 1/4" tools. good luck!:D

If I was you,I'd start in the back and work forward !!! Get the worst out of the way before you get tired and grouchy, the rest will be a piece of cake !!! We used a 1/4" drive ratchet and it worked really well !!!While you're at it,upgrade your spark plug wires too !!!

The little plastic tabs that push into the intake manifold hold the wiring harness secure. They aren't likely to survive the operation and normally break when you try to take them off. You will have to find different ones because Dodge sells them WITH a new wiring harness. If you replace them at all that is.

While your intake is off, it is also a good time to have a peek at your intake valve guides to see if they are leaking any oil. A good time to clean the bugs and crap out from under the manifold.

Careful when lowering the manifold back into place. You can do it alone but it is best to have someone else at least looking around when it goes back on.

Don't over torque the bolts when reinstalling.

It is quite straight forward...

ok i'm gonna go buy some more 1/4 inch drive stuff, looks like i need 2 3" ext. and all i have is a 6 and a 1, and good advice on the tape, i've lost one ext already:D i tried the torx but couldn't get it to bite because i can't get it in very straight which is why i'm gonna try the 2 3".... i'll keep yall updated, oh and 6pak i'm upgrading to the MSD wires

ive' got a question for ya...did you have to disconnect the injector cables to remove the intake? reason i'm asking is i had to...but why not run them between the valve cover and intake? there is a slot that looks perfect for this.:dontknow:

why ya removin the intake???????

yes i had to un do the injector cables, the slots look like a good place to move them to for the install though:idea: intake is finally off, i'll start on the wires tommorw it's my bed time now, i ended up with the torx with a little tap tap from the hammer and it worked great, and now i know i don't have any head work done to my truck on either side, the wires look like they are gonna be a pain, not sure they'll fit in the factory wire holders cause they're HUGE. also think i call the dealership and see if they have a set of intake gaskets just to be on the safe side thanks everyone for you help and yes the little plastic tabs got murdered, but it looks like the harness will be ok just sitting there

Good choice getting New Gaskets !!! I'm old school, and once the gaskets were used we replaced them !!! Even though these are reusable,I believe in Preventive maintenance !!!Better safe than sorry !!

yeah i wish i could have my truck apart long enough to get the intake polished but i wasn't really planning to take it off when i started my header install it just kinda had to come off since i broke the plug wires. so hopefully i'll get it back together early in the morning but somethin tells me they'll have to order teh intake gaskets

Polishing looks killer on the Intakes, but maintenance sucks badd !!! I'd just send it out to Justin and let him PC it metallic Silver, lot less work keeping it clean !!!

when justin sends you pc intake does the thottle body come pc too?

How much was it for the polishing? I was looking at the chrome one that Hennessey has. I looked at it last year and I think he was doing it for $850 for club membrs.
