I see others here doing the entire engine etc.... but for thoes not pushing 700 hp etc.... would just putting in new pistons be a good thing .. or a waste of money if you did not do everything??
TNVIPER said:You have to remove the rods to change the pistons....just would be cost effective to do the rods too.....![]()
TNVIPER said:If you change the pistons you will spend about another $800-$1500 to forge the rods...depending on brand and type...labor should be the same since the rods are removed when changing the pistons....take it from an CPA Jack..this is cost effective..![]()
FATJACK said:I may have a GenIII short block located, if that works out I would certainly take my time and build it correctly, if not I will probably be lucky to be able to just replace the pistons on my current engine.
TNVIPER said:you need to forge your bottom Jack being on the bottle...that shot of N is harder on your engine than a moderate blower..

Yellow venom said:Are all the other Gen motors the same bore as the ones in our 10's?,I know the cu if diff but is that just stroke change? Reason asking is, are the viper motors before ours have forged pistons and rods?
