I see others here doing the entire engine etc.... but for thoes not pushing 700 hp etc.... would just putting in new pistons be a good thing .. or a waste of money if you did not do everything??

yep pistons and rods are good to a 1000 plus
If your going to pull the motor to change the pistons you might as well do it all. My $.02
You have to remove the rods to change the pistons....just would be cost effective to do the rods too.....

Yes this is for thoes who do not have 15k to spend forging the engine
Pistons and rods cost about 3K plus install. Cheap insurance with all the blown motors lately.
If you change the pistons you will spend about another $800-$1500 to forge the rods...depending on brand and type...labor should be the same since the rods are removed when changing the pistons....take it from an CPA Jack..this is cost effective..

I may have a GenIII short block located, if that works out I would certainly take my time and build it correctly, if not I will probably be lucky to be able to just replace the pistons on my current engine.
